What's really happenin...?

Peter Finch covers it nicely here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqvrQMvRe14

I think TM will get bought rather than follow Nike out of producing golf clubs, especially given their driver's popularity on tour and in my opinion may follow Titleist in particular into only producing a stripped down number of models, especially in the irons with a longer turnaround period between each release

I wouldn't agree with that.
If taylormade had Rory on there books contracted for the next 4 years I reckon it would attract more interest in the business

And why would that be? After all having Tiger and Rory winning multiple Majors did not result in Nike selling many more clubs.

Player endorsements never have meant dramatic increases in turnover; they are more about increasing name awareness for the brand.

Your second paragraph is exactly what I'm meaning.

"They are more about increasing name awareness for the brand"

Name awareness could in my opinion attract more buyers

I meant name awareness to the public not to a potential buyer.

Anybody interested in buying TM would already be well aware of their name and their difficulties.

In relation to the sports and leisure goods markets as a whole golf is pretty small.
