Whats our favourite format.

Matchplay is my favourite, but, every year I play in this one event, where the format is always "Canadian Greensomes"

It seems a bit odd at first but I love it because it adds a tactical element to everything.

Basically it is 4BBB Matchplay with a twist. Everyone drives, then you play your partners drive, then however you must choose one ball to continue with, however you continue alternating the shots until the ball is in the hole. For Par 3's you choose after the 1st shot, Par 4's and Par 5's 2nd shot.

I find off 3/4 handicaps it makes the game wide open and anybody can win!

Another vote for matchplay, find it easier to raise my game to beat someone, trying to find the magic formula to translate my competitive spirit to just me against the course...

Singles matchplay.

Love the competetive feeling. I also find it easier to concentrate for 18 holes in matchplay, as while I enjoy strokeplay, it can feel like a bit of a slog sometimes.

Strokeplay

I always go out onto the course with the aim of a personal best - so every shot counts. None of this picking up if you can't score in a stableford nonsense! ;)

Strokeplay for me, all I care about is my gross score. Even when I'm playing s'ford my only concern is my gross score. That for me is what golf is about, taking as few shots as possible.

Hopefully for one round only you'll temper your pursuit of single figures and relax and let your current good form flow next Monday without worrying too much about the gross - it is a non-qualifier!

Personally I not fussed what format I play. I like the challenge of medal play but accept that stableford is the staple diet of our Saturday group. We did have a friendly 4 ball better ball yesterday which was a pleasant change and which my win at the last ensure finished all square. There is also something uniquely satisfying about a good singles matchplay win

Individual strokeplay is my own favourite but i enjoy all formats.

Comp to avoid the royal wedxing on friday is 9 holes foursomes and 9 holes scramble which should be enjoyable for a change.

Like playing any format really but I always enjoy foursomes when I play. Great for cameraderie and you get round nice and briskly.

Snelly

Strokeplay all the way home...

Stableford is fun, matchplay is competitive but way different, you are playing your opponent not the course, greensome, foursomes & fourballs are fun

But golf is about Strokeplay, putting the ball in the hole from the tee in the least amount of strokes possible.

Don't worry Homer, I can adapt :D However, since it's Betterball I figure if I shoot a PB that can only be good for the team score.

Having been at the sharp end and seen my game, we'll need a PB from you anyway. Spoke to Ali and the June stuff's not out yet so I'll check again over the weekend. You play like you did last week (top 10 finish) and I'll loiter with intent to come in at your moment of need

Sounds like a winning formula to me (at least it would be if we didn't have Butch, Sundance and Kerching to contend with)

Singles medal rounds are my favourite. To me it's the purest form of the game.
