Evening all,
I went out after work tonight with the younger brother and played the fron 9 on our home course.Left a couple of putts behind me but finished with 16 points. Happy enough...But.....
Wasnt feeling very energetic and to say the swing was a little off was an understatement.....
Anyway...On 2 of our par 3's with a strong wind into the face i hit my own 4 iron on both....I missed both greens right but level with the flag..
I then hit 2 other balls with my brothers new Mizzy MX200's 4 iron also and left the ball 3 ft from the pin on the 1st and 8 feet from the pin on the second......Whats the story there like.....On any other day i hit my own Irons pretty well for the most part but just in case it was a fluke I did the same thing again with the 6 irons from both sets on our par 4 7th....Wind assisted this time from about 180 mtrs.....Left my own level with the flag but right again and dropped his 6 iron about 6ft from the pin again......

Im just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this.....Is it a case that you'll be punished by better players irons if your feeling off....But are you better off with the forgiveness of the Game Improvers for those days that you are a little under the weather.....Just for the record I birdied the first par 3 and parred the other 2 hole.... Which would have had me turning with over 20 points had they been my proper shots...... :D :D :D

Imurg I dont want to agree with you but my arms being twisted..... :D :D :D In fairness to the mizzys they were like a hot knife through butter thats the only way i can explain it.......Your just kissing the back of the ball with them....Now dont get me wrong....If i catch my own from the sweet spot they feel the same way but the mizzys were beautiful.

Calm down mate and take a breath. :)

It could just be the "provisional ball" syndrome. You play a poor 1st shot, take a provisional and flush it.

Next time, play your counting ball first with his club, and then play a "doesn't matter" shot with your Wilson.

Just a thought that might save you a few pennies ;) ;)

I wouldn't say you hit enough shots to draw any conclusions but have done the worst possible thing and put doubt in your mind.

Take your bro's clubs out for a couple of rounds and see how you get on. If you still think they suit you better, you have a decision to make.

You pulled the tits off the shots with the Mizunos?? ;)

You pushed the arse off the shots with the Wilsons?? ;)

Am I right in reading your sig, that you're a 17 handicap? If so, then what the hell are you doing with blades? I play off 6 and have Mizuno cavity backs, blades are for players with more ego than sense, as you've just discovered. Oh, and Wilson's are miles behind the quality of Mizuno.

You obviously havent read my post properly.....There was no mention of blades nor would i even attempt to play with them....
My clubs are Wilson staff FG5 Tour irons......There a mid size cavity back forgiving better player iron...Allbeit with very little offset but they are hittable.....On a good day i have no problem with them......Also there is a big difference between Blades and Tour cavity backs......There are only about 15% of Professionals using blades on tour at the moment and its getting less and less......
But thankyou for your opinion!
