What will it take?

to get you to the next level.
We all have our goals, whether it be Cat I, single figures, breaking 80 etc, but what will it take?
More time practicing, more time playing, better short game, better long game, more lessons?
Or all of the above?
Turning the clock back 20 years, :( I'm even older than Bob :D
Perhaps accepting the fact and letting all those .1s add up and getting a shot a hole ;)
But I still keep trying, down the range again tonight and remembering when I could hit it as far as all these young chaps with "individual" swings :(

I need to play more frequently. I have an swing grooved in but I play so infrequently it means I have no consistency. There's a good score lurking in there waiting to get out.

If I can keep my ball in play more often from the tee and not have to chip out sideways as much then I will lower my scores considerably. I have been working on the driver swing over the past few weeks and it is working well at the moment.
Getting myself in the right frame of mind from the start of the round is also something I need to work on and I hope my pro can help me out with this as he is a NLP coach as well.

Hard work on the range and putting green and a bit of luck would defo do the trick.

You only get out what you put in springs to mind.

A stronger belief in my ability to play the short game and that I can chip and putt. I think I've got so screwed mentally with the short game its a self perpetuating circle of negativity. Break the circle and thing's will look up. I need to get the driver working regularly. When it is on then I'm usually good from fairway to green but when its off too much pressure goes onto the rest of the game

It really does feel close to coming good and once I get the first cut, the rest will click. I'm a confidence player and so I just need that one spark to kick it off. I still think 9 or 10 is doable

In slight contrast to Homer i have a massive belief in my ability and i know that one day Cat 1 will be achieved....Im working on 2 particular swing thoughts at the moment ;) and im going to play the whole season with these and see how things pan out...
If and only IF things need changing then i will work on it next winter but i think that my main weakness lies from inside 100mtrs....My putting is pretty good and i know that if i can find a few more GIR'S then the handicap will start to tumble... :D
I also need to tame my aggressive play in situations...At times i know that i can pull off the shot thats needed as i have done before but i have to try and play the percentages a bit better and not always go for the prize...
Roll on the season...

Ill be honest here and say I dont want to get to the next level. It's hard enough as it is without wanting to go lower. If I play well I get cut if I dont I get 0.1 back , no probs either way.

Been there and done the obsessive golf thing and it's not pretty , for me or the missus who has to put up with the frustrations of another bad round and the bad mood I brought home with me Not anymore though :D

Definitely need to rediscover the driving consistency I had when I first started playing, working on a few tweaks that will hopefully get me on the fairway more regularly.

The short game is pretty good, mid and long irons are ok, which is just as well because for some reason I cannot practice them for sh4nks at the range :D

Another couple of minutes in the net before i tee off is my new practice strategy. Might even have a couple of putts on the putting green but don't want to over do it.

Need to hit the driver better, and improve my pitching. Putting is rubbish at the moment, but usually improves as the greens get quicker.

Would like to get back to 6 again, but time is running out. :( :( :D

Same as Jammy to most extents. The next level for me would be to push on towards scratch and that would take some serious time and effort which I am neither willing or able to commit to.

If I have a real purple patch and the lucky bounces go my way I think I could possibly get to 2. Even that will be a tough ask as i play at least 20 rounds away from home on tough courses set up for scratch events. There are, invariably, enough .1s amongst those to keep my handicap in check.
