What was your first hc?

First CONGU handicap was 4.0 but my first USGA handicap was 36 when I was 8 years old!!

Lowest I got to with my USGA hcap was 2.9 before I got my handicap over here.

Just going to start the process of handing in cards and will be happy with anything 26 or under.

You guys whose first one was sub 20 had been playing for a fair while beforehand yeah?

One of our newest members was allocated an initial handicap of 2. He is South African and was scratch 15 years ago in South Africa. The allocation had to be made by the County Union as Cat 1 initial allocations have to be done by them.

In 1981 my first handicap was 22 when aged 10. I had my first cut after about a year and went to 18. I then had a nett 58 in a medal and was cut to 12 by the secretary. I got to single figures in 1985 and cat 1 by 1987. Lowest I ever got was 1.4.

I don't have an official handicap at the moment but have a society handicap of 2. I reckon I would probably be off 3 or 4 if I was a member of a club.

28 but I have never handed in any cards. My handicap was given to me as I needed one for a charity day I was taking part in and didnt have time to enter three cards. Currently play off 22 in a social round with friends and will enter the next comp where I can get cut.

How is that possible? , no problem with a non golfer geting a handicap for a charity day or guest at a society , but you cant enter any official comps without going through the official procedure surely? was gona ask if you were a member somewhere but i see you are at Colne valley GC.. verrrry strange Stu ?
1st handicap was 14

Of course.

3 cards at Redbourn golf club in Hertfordshire for the 24, moved here with a current handicap. And yes i'm a member at Nairn and Tain. My handicap is held at Nairn.

Why would you think its not official?

Got my first handicap of 24 as a junior aged 14. Got it down to 8 when I was 16, but then golf was starting to impact too much on my drinking, smoking and chasing girls, so drifted away from the game.

Nearly got it back where it was, after a year back playing seriously.

Sorry mate i was just after replying to the one essex stu posted regarding not having to hand in 3 cards, you said you got your handicap of 24 at a cricket club day never having playd before , i thought i maybe was just handicap fpr the day like .. then moved back to scotland at the end of that month & got down to 14 within a month .. i was asking coz i thought maybe there was a way you could do that over there.. (get a h'cap without 3 cards) would have answered the question i asked essex stu thats all..

Maybe it wasn't clear. I had never played before the cricket day, loved it and then got a set of clubs a few months later. Redbourn were doing a winter deal for 6 months, so joined played a few games in the winter then when the Medals started in March put 3 cards in.

My first official handicap after 3 cards at Westerham was 21.0, which was 6 years ago.

Down to 13.0 now.
