IMO 1st thing early morning well before anyone is playing a round well that's opinion .

Last Monday whilst having been out all day coming down the road that goes through the course just after 5pm I happend to spot a player out on the course ready hit on to the green and the next happens the one of the green keeper's comes along in his machine and preceeds to cut the green and the player kicks his ball in fustration and heads to the next tee .

With the sun starting to rise at silly o'clock, it will be hard for any greenkeeper to cut the greens before people go out. I would have thought the greenkeeper would have let the person play through before cutting the green.

A lot of courses have a " greenkeeper has right of way" policy. Having said that the greenkeeper should take players into consideration before beginning a cut. Have to say ours are first rate - even starting to give one of them driving lessons next week1

We are lucky at our course as the greekeeper cuts the greens first thing in the morning and starts with the earliest greens numerically, at least for the first few holes.

My group normally play at 7am and we rarely see him until later in the round and even then he is on a much later green.

It's lovely to play on just cut greens. Smooth and true just like they should be. :)

well Vivary Golf club in Taunton Somerset cut the greens after the second or third 4 ball goes out!! But not in order like hole 1 then 2!! Random cutting of greens so u will always find that u will have to wait for them or some greens have been cut and r faster and then some greens really slow!!!
Thats y im not a member anymore!!!!!

There's a muni near me that I play occasionally and I tee'd of about 10am once during the week and got held up by whilst they cut the fairways in front of me. And the course wasn't exactly quiet either.

At my place they tend to have it all done before anyone goes out. Occasionally run into them during the day in the week if they are doing some minor work and they will usually stop wave you through.

We have no play before 7.00.

The greens are cut first thing, but in random order, so the same 4 ball can get held up several times. Nice. Especially if you then get blamed by every one else for slow play.

we have comps teeing off at 7.00 am. the Greenskeepers don't come out to play until 7:30 at which time they start sweeping, cutting or even re-holing greens, even seen them tined mid-comp once. Not infrequently mid-comp you will be delayed while they cut a fairway or trim banks (though generally they will let you through).

say anything and it's 'it all has to be done'.
yes fine, but for once NOT in the middle of a comp

I think they should be cut very early in the morning. Very often if I'm out before work on a weekday I can see the shock on the greenkeepers face to see a golfer. I don't mind waiting for them to do their job at that time (especially since our greens are always so good) but they normally move aside to let me play

Sometimes, the greens are cut (especially this time of year) later in the day so they can get a 'dry' cut in as there is too much dew first thing in the morning....

Also, you can get different heads for the mowers that are not actually blades, but like brushes so they may actually not be even cutting....
