What is your putting setup and technique? I find it interesting to watch putters and their approaches since there are so many styles. Do you feel you are consistent,or are you working on anything in particular now?

I use a slight arc with parallel wide stance, mainly shoulders for power (use a Yes mallet 28" putter). I position the putter a few inches behind the ball, which really helps me a lot. Light grip with palms facing.

Claw grip, feet about one foot apart, stance parallel to the target line, take away low and slow, keep head still and don't look up until the ball is on it's way to the hole. That's about it really! Currently using a Ping Scottsdale TR Shea adjustable length putter set to 33 1/2 inches long.

I line the ball up first, to get the right read. Then address ball, front of centre, standard grip with hands slightly forward. One look at hole and then smooth takeaway and hit ball with shoulders (no hands).

I just recently changed my putter, I went from a pretty decent putter (3-4 decent 1 putts per round) to a iffy putter at best. My old setup and technique didn't work so well with the new putter.
A change of technique has worked wonder.
I don't align my ball to anything I try to place my ball down so no logos show to tempt me into hitting a wrong line. I line up by placing my putter behind the ball before stepping into the putt, feet parallel to my line before finally gripping the putter softly, a little forward press (new part of the swing) before taking the club back without picking it up. As I swing through I try to keep the face from turning over and tend to swing out to the right (my bad putt will miss left of the hole).
I'm finally feeling semi confident with the new putter and I'm looking forward to the faster greens in the new season.

Line up ball depending on slopes. From then don't look at the hole, Just at the point on a direct line with where I am aiming.
Work out how hard I need to hit the putt. Adjust my feet width to that. Further away means a longer putt. Overlap grip with right thumb either on top of grip or off to the left (still deciding with that). Then get a feeling of lifting my left shoulder up to my left ear. This brings shoulders straight and ensures I'm striking up on the ball on the way through.
Then swing back to the inside of my right foot every time and let the putter roll back through hit the ball and knock it somewhere near the hole

Put a lot of practice into my routine/setup of late and it's paying dividends!

1. Line up the putt, picking a spot on the green about 4ft in front that I want to start the ball on. No longer use any alignment aids on the ball, find results better without them.

2. Line the putter up with my right hand only, then set my feet shoulder width apart.

3. One look at the hole, then go!

Honestly, I couldn't explain it to you, I haven't thought about it for so long now. All I know is that I have a tendancy to swing with my arms and not my shoulders so Every now and then I have to get that back. It seems to work quite well though

no idea whether i arc or go straight back and through, I put left hand low but interlock two fingers, use a black series twoball with a super stroke slim grip. i put solid so dont worry about it too much.

Line up the put with whatever logo/line on ball, quick look down line from a step back!
Address behind, quick practice in front of ball, look to hole to assess length then shoulders only back and through!

Sounds like it takes a while but it's all done quite quickly!

I have an odyssey #9 and tend to take it on an arc. I use Aimpoint for my read, line the line of the ball up on the line I want and take two practice strokes. I'm right eye dominant and so the ball tends to be a little forward in my stance and I trust the practice I do to let the stroke just work. I don't think about anything but line and length

I look at the slope pick a line, have a couple of practice strokes, put the putter an inch behind the ball, adjust my feet and body position so they are parallel to the stroke line, check the ball to the hole line, looking first towards the hole and then hole to ball and then with a smooth stroke swing the putter back and then forwards down the line, following through all the way.

1, Pick line (about 8in in front of ball)
2, Putter behind ball
3, Take stance & adjust putter face to line marker (if required)
4, Look at hole distance for putt weight
5, Start back-swing

Repeat for 2nd & 3rd putts

Stand over the ball,
palms get sweaty,
legs start to shake,
a quick prayer that I don't 3 putt,
hit & hope!

I go though the exact same set-up every time, without fail. After I've picked my line and guestemated how much pace is required I:

Take my stance just inside the ball. Feet shoulder width apart

Take 2 practice strokes (Looking at the hole).

Address the ball, stance as above.

Place club behind ball with left hand. Aim club along start line. When settled take grip with right hand.

Make sure the inside ofmy biceps are lightly pressed against the side of my chest with a slight flex (bending) in the arms.

Run my eyes down the line I want to hit the putt to the hole, and then back rom the hole to the ball.

Once back at the ball, make a very slight pause before startig the stroke.

Rock my shoulders and make the stroke.

Keep my head down until I can't see the ball, then allow my head to turn.

From the initail taking of my stance to making the putt takes, probably, about 15-20 seconds.

As my focus for this year is putting, I am going through a voyage of discovery which means as soon as I can I am going to get a putting lesson and work on whatever is suggested. Previously , line up putt, place putter on said line , gauge weight of putt with a few strokes, head down and stroke putter through ball , do not lift head until stroke is completed.

Place ball on green with no markings to align to hole.
Check line of putt finally - done while others are putting also.
Take two practice swings to get a feel for the weight next to ball but 6 inches from it.
Take stance and place club behind ball on intended line.
Look at hole and back at ball / club , may tweak alignment of club.
Look at hole again, back at ball and start stroke.

I putt cack handed with a Two Thumb grip.

Cheers for the detail. i need to make a definitive list of things i do on a putt.
