What in your opinion is the most useless piece of golf equipment ?

The S3 is the best golfing purchase I've ever made and I'm hitting more greens because of it, takes no time what so ever a quick glance and pick the club. Saying they are useless is ridiculous

The first thing you need to know about a shot, except possibly the lie, is how far you have to hit the ball. How do you do it? Pacing? guess work? Looking at markers?
Why?
You can't accurately hit a club that far so you may as well dump 13 clubs in the lake and just use a putter instead....
I use my laser, it takes around 5 seconds, to find out how far I need to hit the ball. I can then choose a club that I think I can hit that far...wbether I do or not is irrelevent to the use of gps/laser
Have fun taking 10 putts on a par 4........

Don't think a rangefinder would help my putting!!

Low friction tees, chippers... Umbrella covers.... Oh its just started raining really hard let me get my umbrella off my bag, now let me take it out of its sleeve/cover... Oh I am very wet...
I cannot agree with umbrella sleeves, they keep the brolley clean and stop it getting wet when not in use

Out of interest, why? They might not be for you but they have their use. Easier to creep up on women whilst you carry your clubs home for a start.

Fair enough they stop a bit of Bag clatter and a few dinks on the rear of forged irons but they're not much use when your smashing the sole of the club into the ground at 80mph whilst taking a shot.

Tbh I did buy some years ago for a set of Mizzy Pro2 which were my pride and joy at the time, I think they lasted about 2 weeks.
If your planning on keeping your irons for at least a few years I just don't see the point in them.

Could have been worse, could have been green...

Yes !! Some muppet at a conference the other day bought green tees with their logo on as promotion!!! :) Jesus I laughed at it and thought it cant be that bad!! It is!!! I lost one on every hole!! Pointless. Those ball marker things that the mother in law buys you for Xmas for you to stencil you initials into. Its takes about 10 mins then you hook the ball left into the lake..... :o

Can't believe the hate on range finders, if you pace out or even guess via marker posts why wouldn't you want to know exactly? Not to mention if you can only see the top of the flag on a raised, the 5 seconds it takes is a no brainer.

Got to stick up for iron headcovers here. Big fan!!
But I guess all those people that are anti them are the same people who don't cover their car windscreens over when it's going to be frosty and I just don't like frosty irons.

Think Huds has hit the nail on the head with range finders though. As long as you can see clearly, it doesn't matter how far it is. Amen to that.

hitting most greens has nothing to do with your range finder surly,it must be down to knowing how far you hit each club and what did you do before we had measuring devices,i once played in a corporate comp and was stuck with a guy who had been playing golf for 6 months,he had all the latest gear all custom fitted and insisted on using his range finder on every shot, even after the 20 yd top of the first tee.

I have some iron head covers and my 11 year old irons are still nice and shiny thanks to them.

I also have a range finder, however, I knew what distance my clubs went before i purchased it 4 years ago. For those of you that scorn range finders, try one, you might find that you don't actually hit the ball 280 off the tee and your 9 iron only goes 120 yards, or is that what you are afraid of. If you are serious about your golf then you need to get one. Nothing worse than those tight wedges that won't buy one but are always having a sneaky look during a round to find out yardages.

As for the most useless bit of kit, it must be those yellow sticks that some people insist on carrying around in their bag.
