Never had one but I get stuck a lot between a 3 iron and a powerful 3 wood, so basically I want something equivalent to in-between a 1 or 2 iron, any recommendations?

I had this problem to as I carry 4 wedges and a 13deg 3wood there was a big gap between 3 wood and 3iron so I put in a 17.5 5wood and took out the 3iron and the gaps are better now. If you are keeping your 3 iron I would recommend 17.5/18 from my personnel experience, but it will come down to the way you hit the various clubs. You may find that if you strike the rescue much better than your long irons the gap maybe to big so go 19/20 deg.

I've got the mizuno mp clk 17degree hybrid and it's very good. Hit it so well i'm looking fot a strong 3 wood to replace the 15 degree one i have.

This wouldnt do the job of the hybrid though. These 2 irons are fine off the tee but not so easy off the fairway and definitely not to be tangled with semi rough.

Nick, what are your current distances your trying to fill, ive just dropped my hybrids as the high flight of them meant the ball was effected in a major way on windy days, id "personally" opt for a 5w/4w to bridge the gap between 3i and 3w.
im currently running the below top end in the bag

5w 200
4i 190
5i 180
id try and work out what distance your trying to fill and just plonk a wood in there, not a ballooning hybrid.

Oddsocks a hybrid doesnt have to be ballooning, its perfectly possible to get one with the right shaft in that you can hit low, have a titleist 909h which i can hit as low as my 2 iron
The more I get to use a hybrid the more I think the shorter shaft makes it a far more playable club than the relevant fairway wood

i had a 18* and a 22*, both had very high flights im comparison to my 18* 5 wood.

As an owner of one of these, I can vouch for this. They're fine off plush fairways, but bare/tight lie fairways can be a lottery and I wouldn't even dream of using one out of the semi.

indeed , I also have a 909 hybrid 17* and it doesn’t suffer from a ballooning flight path.
it resembles a sweetly stuck 2/3 iron, first hundred yards at head height and then rising to sub 30yards ish (ofcourse) and dropping softly at the target.
ofcourse this is only sometimes, but its more regular than id manage with a 2iron.
also I have a mizuno fli-hi 3iron which may never make it back into bag thanks to the 909

First, I should say that historically, I have never got on with hybrids as they have always flown too high. However, recently my friend gave me a Callaway Fusion 2H hybrid with 18 degrees loft (not sure what shaft to be honest) and this has changed my view.
It is a superb club and I would guess it goes about 230 yards with a similar trajectory to a 2 or 3 iron. It is easier to hit than a 5 wood and excellent off the tee on shorter par 4's. I can recommend these very highly. I am even considering getting a higher lofted one and taking my 3 iron out of my bag. This is something that I never believed I would even think about doing.
These are well worth finding but all that said, my experience of hybrid clubs is pretty limited so feel free to take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

Thanks Jason, good advice, I use the 3 iron a lot either from the Tee or second shots to long par 4's
3 irons about 210yd mark and 3 wood is about 260ish
all my shots are low penetrating flights and when I tried my friends adams hybrid it nearly went into orbit, maybe the 5 wood is an option but I believe the hybrid is better out the rough? and when you have 230 to go and out the rough the lowest I try is a 4 iron and usually made a mockery of it- too greedy

I loved my 2 iron,but as good as it was from the tee and fairway,it was hopeless from anything but a perfect lie.
I now have a Taylor Made Rescue 09 TP 19* in place of my 2 iron,it certainly hits the ball higher than my 2 iron,but i wouldn't describe it as "ballooning",it is also about 10-15 yards longer.

You're not wrong.
The majority of hybrids are designed to get the ball up high PDQ. There are very few that cater for the stronger player but they are about. The Titleist ranges don't fly too high and some of the Callaway ones as you found don't re-enter the atmosphere with ice on them!
High and a propensity for going left was always my issue with hybrids but with the Fli-Hi 4 iron and the 910 19 degree I think I've found clubs I like. They can still go high and left but certainly not as much...
Stronger players are also better off with a hybrid rather than a 5/7 wood. The fairway wood puts more spin on the ball due to its lower C of G, that spin loses a stronger player distance (it's great for slower swingers though!). So a 5 wood with 19 degrees and 1 1/2 inch longer shaft goes about the same distance as a 19 degree hybrid in the hands of a strong/better player but the shorter shaft of the hybrid gives more control and therefore better accuracy.

tried the Titleist 910 and TM R11 Hybrid today, both were fantastic and long, made me seriously reconsider getting a new driver, if I used that on most courses averaging 6000 yds it would be 8-PW left for majority of par 4's and a long iron or hybrid for par 5's, your correct in the shorter shaft really helped accuracy plus you can still shape a shot if you need to, really enjoyed these clubs, just need more cash now- expensive hobby this

I've just flogged my hybrid and got a 7 wood.
Slow swinger, so it suits my game a lot better and I'm now quite happy, (and a little more confident), to be in the "no mans land" that was 180-200 yards
