• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

What games do you play and what's the prize??

We all put a fiver in the middle and the best score wins.
In the case of a draw we all whip our willies out and the biggest takes all.
I've never won a "play off" yet but to be fair, I haven't played with many of the Scots lads.

lol, im pretty good from 8 inches out on the putting green :D its my perfect distance nailed a few

That snakes, camels, ducks is a good one. There's normally just the two of us so we play stableford front, back, full loser gets the drinks in. Got stung last week when my playing partner parred the last for four points, I blobbed and he beat me by one. Git! He'll get his cumupence on Sunday!!!! Grrrrrr.

£2 in the pot each winner takes all, sometimes it could over £20 so a chheky pick up for playing decent. Same again when we go on holiday but its £5 a birdie with all money going in the swally kitty,my last round at Portstewart cost me £20 for 4 birdies aaahhh.

We have a comp going on over the winter. £10 entry fee for the winter and £2 each week. We normally play for the weekly entry fee.
The winter comp is best 6 stableford scores over the winter, with prizes for best eclectic and best back 3.
Orgainser does a great job, has spreadsheets made up and we receive a weekly email update.
Local rules include only playing a max of 2 rounds a week and you have to play with another member of the group.

Of course there is the compulsory prizegiving in springtime.

We have a similar one ,where its £10 entry and eclectic which runs in conjuction with the clubs winter stableford,my mate gets the scores puts them on a spreadsheet send it out every week with a summary of the weeks golf in other words he rips the crap out everyone , a good bit of banter ,oh and it starts tomorrow.

We have a night out next week as start of season and one at the end for the cash and trophy to be handed over ,a good way to keep you going over the winter trying to better your score every week on holes you've had a mare at.

I played Bruggen a few times and loved it , some really nice sweeping holes through the trees iirc

We arent as well off as some of you rich blokes on here so we just play for £3. All in the pot and winner takes all on individual stableford. He then has to get everyone a drink (halfs or coffees though , no pints unless you pay £4)

Used to play all the bits and bobs at my last place but no-one wants to play them at this course. Probs cos I get too many birdies :D

£1,£1 & £1.

50p birdies and oozlers.

Animals is a great game, 20p a bit

Monkey = Hitting a tree
Frog = In a burn/stream/water
Snake = 3 jab
Camel = Bunker
Gorilla = OOB that's a £1 penalty to each player.

That game makes you concentrate, especially if you have a 30 footer on the last to stop you carrying 5 snakes.

We play £5 4BBB between our group and also put in £2 to a pot between about 15/20 of us which pays 1st and 2nd. Forget the club comp, that's just a bonus, this is where the real enjoyment and banter lies.
