What is your weekly format?? Bit of matchplay for a quid?? Stableford for a beer?? What does your weekly game involve?

I find it very hard to play "just for a knock" unless I'm out on my own. It's always got to be for something, even £1.

Our Saturday roll up during the winter is £5 in, 3/4 h'cap stableford, dependant on numbers depends how far down we go with prize cash. Always a side bet on a 4bbball matchplay within our group too, normally just a pound, pound, pound.

4 ball betterball. Full handicap off the lowest usually. Pound front 9, pound back 9, pound the match. (We're flush!)

We usually play 20p camels too. Every time a ball lands in a bunker the total goes up 20p. Last man to go in a bunker pays everyone else the total. That's where the real money lies!

:D :D

Our roll up on a Saturday, is £5 in the kitty, which gets you tea, crumpet chips and a beer. Winner pays off the tab and anything left over they keep. It has been known for the winner to lose money, but usually you at least break even.

We play stableford full handicap fourball better ball and usually play for the kitty.

Usually just play with friends and don't keep score, too busy enjoying the game and the course we're playing.

Once every two months or so i'll play with friends that do play for money; £1 front nine, £1 back nine, £1 overall, £1 birdies and £5 eagles. Winners normally pay for lunch.

In Germany we used to play 5DM front 9 5DM back 9 and 5DM match. 4 ball better ball
You also had you little side bet within your 4 ball.
The winner bought the chips and the first round.
Off scratch :D

Didn't realise there were any courses in Germany during the war. Didn't the bombing put you off ? :D

My weekend round is usually only a 2 or 3-ball at most, so there's no large kitty to play for, we play stableford, full handicap, £1 front, £1 back, £1 overall, 20p for birdies, recently two of us reached a par 5 in two at the same time, so the topic of eagles came up, the obvious prize is 40p but we felt that wasn't generous enough, so we squared the prize, to make an eagle £4, never been won yet though. By that logic though I'm just hoping no-one gets an albatross cos that'd be 80 quid!

You have no idea the thinness of the ice on which you tread. :)

The course we played was on RAF Bruggen which was a serious fighter command station, which if the Russians or the French got arsey, the Jets would be first there.
If anyone has played there, they will confirm they used to fly pretty low at times, especially when they are taking off and landing and VERY LOUD:)

My father was in the RAF, based at Jever, where i was born. Probably there a bit before your time though ;)

Usually we play 4 ball better ball with £3 on the front, £3 on the back and £4 overall together with the usual bits and sandies.

If there are less than 4 of us then we resort to a stableford.

Low handicappers play off their officials but us higher handicappers tend to have to negotiate what we are playing off on the first tee.

Seconded Bob, and you're right Brugen was bloody tight.

St Athan was the same for noise, the landing lights are in the rough 10yds right of the 8th hole. Harriers coming in just out of the hover, deafening and I'm sure the downdraft made my ball move on the green!! :D

Normally matchplay for a pound. We sometimes throw in "snakes, camel's, ducks" , which it the last person to 3 putt pays the others a pound, the last person to go in a bunker pays the others a pound and the last person to go in the water pays the others a pound.

recently its been £5 front, £5 back and £5 on the match. 4ball combined stableford off full handicap. we have aldo had 50p in each on the par 3's nearest the pin but you MUST par the hole to win, no win equals a roll over to next hole.

Its been working quite well and pretty fair, the last couple of games my team have won the match money, but the other team have won the par 3's so it sort of evens out.

We have a rule that if 1 team has won front 9, back 9 and match, then the lowest of each team must play eachouther down the 18th off scratch, if the losers win, he wins £5 of he's £15 back, if he loses it goes to £20. this is the same with the 2 higest handicappers.

I think its been getting silly though and we will bring it back down to £2.50, £2.50 & £2.50 effectively meaning the biggest lay out would only be £10 per player, as it is the most someone could win is £25.00

Everyone puts £3 in the pot and it's split evenly over 1st, 2nd & 3rd best stableford scores. As a side bet we have a 4BBB £2, £2 & £1.
