What age are you a "Senior"

60 at our Club and that seems standard in Leics.

Should hear the oldies moan when they play an inter-club match with clubs from outside the county and those clubs have 55 year olds in their team.

Makes no difference really as most who play for our team are 70+, we "younger" seniors don't seem interested. Probably due to their collar and tie rules for post-match meals.

Do they ask your age in weekly medals ?

When you look as old as .... Homer for Seniors. Smiffy for Super Seniors. Doon frae Toon and you're already dead :-)

It's strange that there is such a spread of age requirements.....
I assumed 55 at ours until yesterday..👍😀

Although not sure I was ready to be called "Senior".....😫

Some of the other clubs we play in seniors matches are now allowing 'smart casual' for the post match meal, which I prefer. I had to wear a suit and tie for most of my working life, but now I am retired I would rather not be forced to do so! :(

The whole Senior Men's set-up is a joke in UK. Pro Senior age is 50. To enter Amateur Senior comps it is 55. Some clubs use 60 or 55 for their Senior comps or sections. Meanwhile all women's senior golf starts at 50, Pro or Amateur. In an age when everything has to be Equal Opportunities, the only anomaly appears to be Men's Senior section age. If it's 50 for the Pros, whey not for the Amateurs?

Rant over...for now   :sbox:

There seems to be some confusion as to what age you have to be to be a senior.

Looks like it is 50 at Aylesbury Park, I know it's 60 at Little Hay

What is it at your place and is there a standard age written down anywhere?

At my previous club we had one Seniors Championship a year for the over 50's, but nothing else until you were 65, when you could join the Vets (Veterans, not animal doctors) Section, who ran weekly competitions.

I would be in favour of amateur seniors sections starting at 50, as long as there is a separate over 65 Vets section, for us poor old gits who can no longer drive the ball much beyond our own shadows! :(

55 at out place.

Classic bit of thinking amongst the seniors section at our club. The numbers in the senior section were getting a bit low and so rather than look to attract new members to the club, they cut the senior age from 60 to 55.
