The weather held off again today so I headed out for another 9 holes after work. Not the best start with a sliced drive on the opening par 5 but a decent hybrid and a 7 iron and I was on the green and 2 putts for par. Followed that up with another par then dropped a shot on the 12th. The 13th is a bogey hole for me, long par 4 a stream in front of the green. Longish drive and a 3 hybrid to 3 feet then in went the putt for a birdie. Followed that up with a par at the 14th and I am level gross after 5 holes. I dropped shots at the easy 15th and the harder 16th but parred the 17th so was 2 over gross going down 18. I missed a putt for the 4 but tapped in for a 5 and finished the 9 holes 3 over gross.

Admittedly it was off the yellow tees but I did putt out on every hole. The slight changes to my grip and swing have really bedded in and I was grinning like a mad man when I came off the course. I know that the golfing gods are probably going to bite me in the arse in the medal on Saturday but 3 over gross for 9 holes playing off 18 has made me a very happy man.

Well played. You have done it once, so no reason you cannot repeat it.

The mother in law visits tomorrow evening so I have a pass to get out of the road for the evening - hope to match your efforts.

Had 90 minutes of hell on the chipping green. Old habits forcing their way back, head scrambled and totally cheesed off. On the plus side I'm getting a few holes in tomorrow so I can just go out and have some fun and sod how it goes
