I took my annual pilgrimage to Wentworth today and watched the guys on the range and then the Seve Pro am, incedentaly saw Graeme McDowell hit two of the sweetest rescue club shots into a howling gale that you ever saw whilst watching 5 holes with him

The houses surrounding the course just have to be seen to be believed and I just googled "properties for sale" on the Wentworth estate - £5m to £12m should just do it - the only problem for me is that I couldn't even afford the stamp duty!

Question should I buy 2 tickets for the Euro millions this week?

What have you got to lose - apart from a coupla quidlets..??

Going Sunday with Fragger - can't wait to have a peek into some of the back gardens.....

Does anyone know the best place to perch to get a good view of several holes

My Pro reckons about the 7th green as you can see the 8th tee
and the 9th fairway & green

Any other ideas?

I think that Wentworth is quite good for viewing generally. It will be very busy but I have walked with some groups and viewing is good, and also there are holes with stands to sit in.

The 18th has a largish stand which fill fairly quickly, another on the par 3 14th is good. The greens are banked on a number of holes, making viewing ok even a few rows deep. I always make for the place where the 9th tee, 11th green and 12th tee all converge you can, if you pick a good spot, see all the action on two tees and one green as well as have toilets and food place very close at hand.

I just love the place and managed to get to play it a few years back - I am sure you'll love your day there

I like the 2nd hole the par 3 as you stand above the green and watch the shots land by the pin from a few feet away ....

Ditto,

Love that hole, and then you can just walk down a bit and watch them tee off on the 3rd. Even on a busy day, Saturday, you can get quite close to tee area. Just watch their swing speeds and how they strike the ball - awesome!

Will be there on the Saturday again, just love it.

Don't talk to me about the 2nd
After a nice par at the first, I hit a lovely 8 iron all over the pin. Pitched front half of the green and screwed back 40 yards down the hill. Easy 4

I hit a full 7 iron and 2 putted !

Also did the last 3 holes par, bogey, par. I shot 87 playing off 15 and worked out that it had cost just about £2.50 per shot!

I got a lot of backspin down the hill as well, although hitting the big tree may have contributed. :( :( :( :( :D

OS, Think the practice day Weds is £8,every other day is £35,not bad for a full day!!!!

I usually go on the Wed practice day and it's always been free

You can generally get much closer to the players, both on the range and course, but it is getting busier every year
