[/QUOTE]Lets not get carried away here. Its a bit of a shame that England have had to team up with South Africa to be able to compete with the Aussies! :D

If it means we win, I have no problem with that :)

England, like other countries now have a multi cultural society so you will always have people coming here to live and work. I’m not happy about having the two that are born and bred SA, but the others came here as children. They have always been around unfortunately; Robin Smith, Alan Lamb, Tony Greg etc

I was listening to a couple of interviews after a Scotland Rugby game and I don’t remember hearing too many Scottish accents among them. He who is without sin shall cast the first stone etc.
:D :D :D

Excellent start to the 2nd test - big opportunity to pile on the runs, but only by batting sensibly. 500 + over the next two days should be enough for a comfortable win. To be honest though, that task would've been a lot easier with Mitchell Johnson in their attack - he's a pile of poo!! :D :D :D

I'll ask again........I posted the below last week and still have not received an answer to my query....

While this subject is up can anyone tell me why England are known as England and not Wales & England - They select from both nations so why does Wales not get credit for propping up English cricket? Is it the same reason the South Africans never have?

They are even missed out of the abbreviation of the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The should have a name like Engwelsh.

But I think I prefer WaleGland.

Come on,is there an answer to this? I am genuinely interested.

"Although the organisation is the England and Wales Cricket Board, it is referred to as the ECB not the EWCB as a result of a decision taken in the run-up to the launch of ECB in January 1997 by those from within the game given the task of overseeing the transition from the previous bodies from which ECB was formed"

I would hazard a guess that it would boil down to the TV rights and selling the game to generate money for English & Welsh cricket.
The only test cricket that is of any real interest or value to TV is The Ashes which you'll know, as an avid follower of all things English, is England vs Australia.

Ireland is an affiliate nation along with Scotland and the Netherlands. Hence do not play tests or ever likely to, to be honest. So if you are a player who has ambition to play tests the pinnacle of the game you would have to go and qualify for a test playing nation. As England has county cricket and you can earn a good living playing for a county, why not earns some money while having the chance to play tests if you do well. Not sure you could go to Aus and do this as you just wouldn’t get picked by a state side.

Also while I’m about it I think the captain of the Scottish Cricket Team is called Kyle Coetzer a good Scottish name if ever I heard one. :D
