Wedgin' it close

8/10 is a superb record for any kind of up and downs. i have a handy short game but not anywhere near that. im picturing all kinds of shots from anywhere inside 120. its not even just the good approach. you need to be a great putter too. maybe thats my downfall! lol

I read somewhere ( again prob Rotella books) that 80% of shots are from <100yds in.

Also, if you ask any pro what the one big diff is between them and us - they will say short game

That's enough for me

someone asked Gmac during a twitter Q&A .. what is the difference between a tour Pro and a local Pro?

great question as i would imagine most Pros can get up around most greens in two. he said it was the control of the approach shots. being able to apply the spin and control it.

wasnt there an experiment where a mid h/capper played his shots until 120yds or less from the green, then a Pro would play from the same spot, showing the h/capper how many shots he would save with an improved short game

What does your short game work out consist of Kid? What do you do in the garden?

Apologies for the spelling.im replyingto this on my phone Al.
Short game for me are my 3 wedges and putter.
I have just 2 swings with each wedge half and full. Its less complicated for me that way. That covers my distance from 50m to 110m.
At the range i will try to hit the markers at those distances with those wedges.
At home i live in a terrace house in an estate so im not blessed with lots of grass. My lawn is only 14ft wide by 25ft long and i havee about the same distane again of concrete where i put a mat down and hit balls into the lawn from. The mat is so fine its almost like a bare lie so im faced with that lie on the course i have no problem hitting a SW off it if needs be.

I will play different games then. I have 2 raised flower beds that i hit balls over and 2staggered blossom trees left and right in the lawn and i try to get the balls over or under varying branches on these trees before they reach the end of tbe lawn.

Its the best i can do with what i have but it seems to be helping.
For inside i bought 2 6x3ft mats in aldi that i use for putting. One these i place a sleeve that 3 balls come in and try to get my putts into it.
Sorry for the long reply but its the best i can do to give you a mental picture of what i do.

I try and get to the clun practice area at least for a few hours on the day before i play but with a full time job and 2 young kids it can be tough at times..
Im hoping to bring them with me this weekend though to get some practice in for our medal.
