i currently have nike sq sumo irons but they only come in 4-pw so im without a sand wedge and as the irons are pretty fat at the bottom they hard to play out the sand around the greens...

is it worth spending out on a good wedge for the use of bunker shots or would a cheaper one do just the same job??

Any advice would be great thanks

I would not go full bargain basement but you can get a cracking MD or Benross wedge for £30-40 if you shop around. I had 2 benross wedges for two years and loved them. Just changed to CG15s though which I picked up at £50 each. You can usually get really good wedges like the Vokey or CG15 around this price when they have just brought out the new model.

There are some great deals on fleebay and golfbidder. I played yesterday with a guy who played with the MD Seve Pedrena wedge and he loved it. He used to play with Vokeys and now says he will never go back.
I love my Vokey....... But listend to him anyway!

Plenty of good deals around sor wedges bt you need to consider the type of course you play and the bunkers you have to make sure you get one with the right bounce to deal with the sand in them.
