Hi All

Well, I was going to rush out and buy a 64* wedge last year but ive found my 60* to be perfect for everything I need.

Im now wonderring if I even need my 60* and just use my 56* for everything.

What can you do with a 60* that you cant do with a 56?
Im not thinking of getting rid of it just yet, but anyone else been down this road?

Try it, leave the 60 out for a round and see how you get on.

No, my 56 is a sand wedge, with bounce to match, my 60 has very little bounce, so is useful off of tight lies where I might not be able to get the 56 to the ball correctly.

My wedges are 43, 48 and 55 degrees and I see no need for any others. I can thin any of them through the back of the green with ease.

43? Given a PW is 48 that makes the 43, what an 8-iron?

The Di7s are hilariously strong in loft...

I have 47, 50, 54 and 58. They all go the same distance, and height. About 45 degrees right, 4 foot off the ground, about 35 yards.

I bet I could do the same with a 60 or a 64.

I am beginning to wonder why I need so many specialist clubs, when one shanking club would cover all the bases.

I use a 60 wedge around my local parkland course. It has very small greens and you can find yourself blocked off from the pin on some of the holes. Quite a few drivable par fours, so if you miss you don’t want to miss out on birdie still if you are behind a bunker.

However at the links course which has many tight lies, but much bigger greens I can get away with just the 56 sand wedge. If the ball is not sitting well or on a really tight lie, I just take my medicine and play safe. I’ve got a 51 gap wedge with no bounce I can open that right up and play a flop shot, but the ball does tend to run out more with this.

I have:
G10 PW 46 - 120/125 yards
Tour-W 50 - 105/110
Tour-W 54 - 90/95
Tour-W 58 - 75/80
I use all as full shot clubs. Less than 75 is all feel and usually a lower trajectory shot with the 54 which I also use for chipping around the greens and most bunker shots. The 58 gives some alternatives for a higher shot if the lie is right and I can't play my normal shot. I also use it for steep faced bunkers where I just want to flop it out with no roll.
Personally, much higher loft than this and it becomes less use for a full shot which is a waste of space in the bag to me. To be honest, it's not very often, if ever, that when faced with a 58 shot I think "I wish I had a 60/64 for this"

I have 47-pw
52 gap 8 bounce
56 sw 14 bounce
60 lob 4 bounce
use the 52 from around 100 yards and it, the 56 from the sand, and a few other shots, and the lob wedge for going over obsticles and occaisionally from 60-70 yards, but not that often, wouldnt take it from the bag though, think it gives more options, for me, I like that, some may not.
:)

Erm..

Sort of. Out with the old Lynx Black Cats (with PW and DW (which is 52 degree I think)) and in with the Mizzy MP57's which only has a PW. So I'm a wedge down!

Why would you need a 54 and a 56?

Just get a sand wedge 56 at least 10deg of bounce and if you must have another wedge a gap 51 should do with no bounce (or very little)

I have MP57 the PW is 48 deg I think so a bit of a gap between the PW and SW.

I have 51 gap wedge and 56 sw with 13deg bounce.

Stop skimming my post! :D I said 54 OR 56. So I'd have a 48, 54/56 and 60.

I have no idea what bounce I would need. I think my 60 has a 10 deg of bounce.

I'm gonna stick with the potato wedges. There far better to look at, you get more enjoyment out of them and your not restricted to how many your can carry. :D :D :D

I ummed and aaahed about a lob wedge listened to the folk on here and didn't bother. My chipping is improving all the time and if I open the face on the 56 I get more than enough loft. I'm improving my course management as well so don't get short sided as often either. I've now got more room in the bag which I'll need when the Driver arrives in December :D

I couldn't be happier with mine. It's absolute money from about 65 yards out. Can stop the ball on a 2p piece. I don't use it around the green unless I really have to though.
