Wedge set up

Ive just changed my set up actually.

I used to have the PW from my MP4 set which is 47 i think. then 50/6 and 56/13 in MP10 which where a bit worn out.

same PW now have 52/9 and 58/12. worked out quite well. always struggled with a higher lofted SW and use it on full shots a lot, but there are a couple of bunkers at Nairn that 56 is just not enough loft to get out of. Bounce has been the key. the 58 i had before was only 6 deg, but with the same bounce as my old SW, i now find i hit it a little bit further if i have to, not sure why that is. But the 58 had solved the problem of these couple of deep pot bunkers i found i just could not get out of before. With the gap wedge always hit that well and was worried i would loose a slight bet of distance as this is my full shot 100/110 yard club. But if anything its slightly longer and prob gained about 5 yards with that.

Total accident i've ended up with more bounce as thats all i could get as the wedges i went for are an older(new) model and all that was left still were the higher bounce options.

Mine is 50/8, 54/8 and 60/4.

I'm not particularly happy with the 54, seem to struggle with the low bounce to get out of bunkers without thinning it. I need to find an option which has high bounce but you don't see it when at address otherwise I will end up with a wedge that I only use out of bunkers

Standard PW to match the irons (Mizuno Tour 900)

In summer
50 Vokey SM4
54 / 8 Standard Vokey spin milled (most green side pitches and sand shot with hard packed sand)
58/14 Cleveland Rotex (our bunker sand is very deep and soft in summer) This club gets dropped out during periods of prolonged rain.

The 58 gets dropped out during the winter.

The other set I sometimes have in the bag is any one of my 52 degree wedges and a Makser C forged 56/14.

Good thread. I never know what is the best setup so good to read what others have.
