How on earth do you kill off a website??

We, the golf club, four years ago, paid to have a site built - very basic - however, the chap building the site fell out with our council member ( they were pals and this was the reason he was used by us) - kept the cash and will not give us the password.

We are now left with a shell site in the club name using co.uk and we have another fully functioning site with the club name .com

This creates BIG problems as the names are the same on google but the 'empty' site is above ours. We, no doubt, have potential new members etc looking at this 'empty' site and just moving on to another club when they do not see any info thereon.

How do we delete a site with our name, that actually says 'our copyright' but has nothing to do with the club??

HELP!

Who owns the domain name? If it's him then nothing you can do. If it's the club then contact the Domain Host and ask for it to be made inactive or ask for the password to be reset. Alternatively get someone else to install a redirector script on the old site HTML to point it to the new site. Difficult without the password but not impossible.

Thanks folks for your help ... just confirms that this is a super site!!

I can now try and follow the trail and hope we can get it erased.

Thanks!!
