When I'm working with my pro I find the video of my swing really useful to see what I think I'm doing compared to what I actually am doing.

When I'm up the range by myself I'll sometimes use my iPhone to record my swing to have a quick check, but it's a bit fidley and a bit small to see what's going on.

What I was thinking of doing is using a netbook and a webcam instead. obv I don't want to fork out for the same expensive cam and laptop kit my pro has, but I think this might be good enough for basic use and small enough to not be a pain to carry around.

My iphone captures at 30fps and so do most webcams.

Anyone tried this ?

I use my iphone and a free app called Swingreader which allows you to check angles at various points of your swing. The range I use has a handy shelf behind the hitting area so it sets up fine for recording my swing. Personally I wouldn't want to take a laptop down the range.

I'll give swingreader a go. Our range is similar, it has a strut allong the back which holds a mobile at just the right height.

I was thinking of using a small netbook instead of a full laptop, because of size.

Just installing swingreader from the appstore now, apparently I've already paid for a copy so I can download it again for free :D Don't remeber doing that.
