Pretty sure all you guys on here will be savvy enough not to buy from the likes of these sites but just thought it maybe a good idea to spread the word around your clubs.

The site is called http://www.golfstaring.com/ and the storey is this.

My friend looking to buy a R9 Supper Tri thought he had got a bit of a deal when he got it all in for £169! My alarm bells started ringing as soon as he told me over the phone how much he had paid and from some site I had never heard of. So the club pitched up and we meet up for a knock, well straight away as much as I tried to not want my Pal to have been had over you could see a mile off it was a FAKE.

So I had to tell him and he said to be fair when he first opened the box he had a bad feeling but tried to kid himself it was gen. He contacted the company who offered him a full refund as soon as he had paid the post to sent it back to the US costing around £40!! Anyhow he informed them he would be taking it up with his credit card company and they are not happy.

The card company have been really good and asked him to get a confirmation of it been a fake from a TM dealer on headed paper which AG has done. AG did say however it was a really good copy and they would even of tried to price match from the site!!

Anyway card company are fighting it and ill update you all on the outcome !

Gutted to read this for your friend. The fake sellers try to make the price close to that of the real thing to make it look less dodgy. I think you can get that club for round about that now.

what a shame, I hope it all works out... i think the card company will push it.

good luck to him, it must be nasty to get your new toy and all the great feelings that go with that to have them dashed. I would be PISSSSSSED!!

Fools and their money!!!

Seems like your mate must be a bit of a simple Simon to think he was getting a club like that for the money he paid! Surely alarm bells were ringing at the time?????

Normally the site does put you off but that looks really good the only thing that would have worried me is some of the prices, the Scotty newports for £89 etc. I hope your friend gets his cash back

Gutting feeling mate... Hope everything works out and the fakers get punished!

Whislt in hinesight its easy to say... whislt these web site offering cheaper discount products... are often counterfits!

The case to use proven retailers e.g. American Golf, Direct Golf, Online golf and so on...

Or even stick to your club and go via your pro!

Worth paying that bit extra for assurance!

Either way hope your friend get justice! Keep us posted!

In all fairness he has been out of the game for somtime and a lttle out of touch but simple no my friend he is far from that.

ye i thought that was a little strong too.

As stated on many posts, a sticky would need to be made by admin so that we can put a list of sites to use and a list of sites not to use for the benefit of all the members on this forum.

might be best to just do the ones we trust, there are so so so many fake or poor companys out there.

I guess if the website posted a list of websites not to use there may be legal issues, but I am sure we could post a list of sites we have used and rate them

It is the reason why I will only ever buy clubs from either my pro or a reputable chain and never part with my cash without hitting the club(s) first ideally on a range or practice ground and not in a bay in a shop
