Waiting is a terrible thing isn’t it? I shot my best round this year on Saturday in our annual bogey comp (5 over to beat the course by +7). Our CSS is usually a couple lower than SSS but I want to know what I’m down to officially! I can work it out, but I want to actually SEE it if that makes sense?

Myself and 3 other mates have a bet on who reaches single figures first, one got a nice cut of 1.6 last week to 12 and I was on 13.1 so should be close to that too. We’re the lowest of the 4 of us and have both been playing pretty well this last month. This was the first time in a while I’ve been able to put a card in as the last few weeks seems to have been taken up with match play or team events!

What made it an even nicer weekend was that myself and my 4ball partner had our final group match of the summer 4ball yesterday and I shot the same score with my ball and we won the match to win the group and qualify unbeaten. So that’s nice..

I’m not sure I have followed such a good score with another before so I’m itching to get back out there…

Your CSS can't be a couple under the SSS ever, let alone usually....

For a bogey competition the relevant data is Par and SSS for your handicap adjustment the moment you returned the card. Subsequently this gets overridden when the results are posted and the CSS known.

Ah sorry, I probably got it wrong. Par is 68 but the CSS is usually 66, does that make more sense?

I think I meant its usually a couple under the par...

If the SSS was 66 then you are currently playing of 12 - well done. The CSS calculation won't change that from my quick calc; it will just confirm your exact handicap for the next calculation

Funny, the 0.1 notification email always arrive pretty smartly
Our cuts and increases come at the same time, we have to wait until Tuesday to find out what's happened.. The pro comes in on Tuesday and then enters the cards onto the computer to generate the results etc

I wont find out whether I have won the bogey cup till then either, but I think from other scores floating around it looks promising on that front.

So do ours.... but it arrives much quicker when I've played rubbish!

Congrats on a really good score.

Just remember if you play another comp before the results are published you have to self adjust based upon the SSS.

No results yet?
We have two handicap secretaries and we still have to wait till Monday. Usually 18.30.

I have considered offering my services. I'll have em done for Sunday tea time.

Good shooting sir. How's my old favourite playing. When are we playing?

Just through! I won the comp, on countback from one of my mates who was also 7up on the course.

Despite being only 5 over I only got cut 1.1 to 12.0 though which disappoints me a little... CSS was 65

You were 7 up relative to par 68 which = 4 up relative to course difficulty of 65.

13.1 12.8 12.5 12.2 12

The good news is that if you manage 4 up or better within your next 10 comps you will get an ERS to help your quest!
