Yes we do live in a blame claim culture, but the PPI and VW scandal has one thing in common. Both parties lied to there customers for financial gain for themselves. They have been found out and now have to pay. There should be no sympathy for either parties involved.

How exactly have you been "wronged" - companies have lied for years - are you going to seek compensation for every time a company mis sells you something !

They will pay - they will be fined by the government and by EU emissions and will pay that price - you and anyone else who bought a VW has not had your live affected in any significant way but now going to jump on the claim bandwagon to gain something from nothing. When the car manufacturers have to increase their prices to cover the costs I fully expect the claimers to be the first to cry and bleat

Dont know where the "wronged" bit comes from, but I know where the "lied"bit comes from. Quite frankly phil if you think it is ok for companies to lie to you simply on the basis coz " companies have lied for years. Then yup Tashyboy thinks it stinks.
people who have been mis sold PPI from banks who have made Billions, and been bailed out by your tax money. Have stolen tens of thousands from individuals, and have had to pay it back, and quite rightly so. Are you suggesting they are allowed to keep it?

How much extra money did you have to pay for your car based on their lies ? How much out of pocket are you based on what they said ?

VW- How many people truthfully wouldn't have bought their car though if the true figures where shown? Probably very few. Bet there will be loads wanting to make claims though.

PPI - there are loads of people pulling fast ones and claiming refunds falsely.

Not as many as whip lash though. 😳

Nah not with our Phil, he did me a massive favour a couple of years ago and ave not forgot it.

still think he's wrong though 😁

This is an example of a try-on led by the legal vultures.

Anyone who says they only bought that car because of the makers claimed fuel consumption is bending the truth. There are numerous articles which show actual fuel consumption which any intelligent person would read if, as they now claim, they made such careful buying decisions.

Its a chancers' case of hopping on a bandwagon to make a few quid.

You have to remember VW admitted they were warned the software was faulty in 2007, 2014 the scandal broke, during that time they received tax breaks and awards for clean air emissions and sold millions of cars on the back of those claims world-wide.
They have accepted full responsibility and 1.2 Million cars in the UK have been recalled, whether people get £1.00 or £10,000, good on them.
VW made millions out of lies and some suggest the problem is the were there's blaim, there's a claim culture.
Some people are fooled, sucked in whatever by advertising and now it's time for VW to be held responsible.
I don't have a VW or part of any law suit,

Edit:
Apparently the UK Lawsuit is 10,000 owners seeking £3,000-£4,000 per person, the same they have already offered to US and Canada owners outside of any lawsuits.

I agree vw should be fined, but not that the fines go to the owners of the vehicles. It is the government who has been conned out of taxes, will have to pay possible higher health care costs, polution fines, etc. The owners are not out of pocket, and have nothing to be compensated for.

PPI is another issue, but again, in my view, in the vast majority of cases it was not mis sold, the customers wanted it. Suddenly, every single person who had it was mis sold it. No. Garbage.

How so? The car will cost no more to run, or tax, or service, and second hand values are still solid. How are they 4k out of pocket?

Friends that have sold their effected vehicles on feel they didn't get full value for them..

Whether they did or not is open to debate but they are sure they didn't... As soon as the buyer sucks their teeth in and starts "you are aware there's problem with this model" you tend to feel you are about to be knocked...

Would be interested to know how much an owner is out of pocket because of the VW Emissions
Time spent looking for a replacement, time off work to get it repaired, loss of confidence in vehicle, maybe paid more for the vehicle believing the lies,
Why does the exact figure out of pocket matter?

Why do they need to get it replaced ? The cars weren't faulty so didn't need to get repaired ?

Loss of confidence? Does the amount of emissions being given out suddenly make the car not drive as well ?

And how many can honestly say they bought because of the amount of emissions being produced and shown on a data sheet ?

No one is "out of pocket" financially. The figure on a data sheet didn't suddenly make the car stop or mean the car needed replacing.

Genuine Question:

What about the folk who bought VW as company cars because the emissions fell within their tax bracket.

I know several people at the company I work for all bought VW Golf's based on the emissions and the tax to pay based on them.

In your opinion, where do they stand?

Have they been asked to pay back any taxes ?

They bought the car expecting the cheaper tax which they got. Are they out of pocket ? Do they now pay more tax or have they exchanged the car for another one ( im guessing we are talking about leasing here ? )
