A bit of a dumb question, especially as I have a background in IT....
What exactly is the purpose for using VPN at home (previously used one for work).
Is there more to it than just "hiding" when downloading torrents and faking your location?

Predominantly for illegal activity . You will hear that someone uses it for this that and the other, but 99% use for illegal streaming/torrenting

I tried Xpressvpn and Nordvpn whilst in China. Both were terrible, didn't work, were slow, expensive, and hard to cancel. Rubbish.

I used Overplay 5 years back before NetFlix started actively blocking VPN users. It was good at the time being available to access the Canadian and US services to view content which hadn't been made available in the UK.
