VPN

I have got VPN one click pro. Use it on a mac and it works well, been living abroad for the last 6 years and has worked everywhere. Wasn't too expensive and I can recommend it too you.

companies get wise to vpns in the end .. if you have the option id set up my own either on old machine or by a dedicated router with vpn termination included

I use VyprVPN.

The one thing I would say is avoid free ones and be aware that some VPN's can lower your broadband speed significantly. Depending on what you're planning to do behind the VPN this may have a bearing on the one you choose.

My Expat Network. Superb service. Cost £5 per month for Uk channels linked to Sky.

We go abroad often and we can watch all programmes with ease. Found set up initially difficult but have to repeat the help was unbelievable. The downside to this is that they are not very busy!

I installed my own VPN box at home which ended up way cheaper than 'buying' a VPN service but i assume you want the servers to think you are not in the UK!

I have an experience of about 5 years of using VPN services, i used 5 different fastest VPN service providers and just 2 of them (NordVPN and ExpressVPN) is the best for streaming, unblocking and torrenting.

I'd say that tunnelbear for torrenting is another nice option. At least that's the one that I use. And speaking of other ones, as far as I know, windscribe is another good service which provides decent speed.

For me the speed is important, but even more vital is how it works. I want reliability and security with no holes or flaws at any time. You pay for this. I use IPvanish. Several top providers out there and hundreds of bad ones. Do your research

A bit of a dumb question, especially as I have a background in IT....
What exactly is the purpose for using VPN at home (previously used one for work).
Is there more to it than just "hiding" when downloading torrents and faking your location?

I used one I get on my work pc that connects to various offices we have throughout the world, so I chose our US office network. I could then stream the Masters from the CBS Web site.
