i watched a programme on bbc 3 about these 2 crafts . i still can't comprehend the speed -distance and time involved.
voyager 1 travels at : up to 57.000 kmph. and will take 40.00years after it leaves our solar system to reach the next object in interstellar space . my head hurts just thinking about it . whats your thoughts guys and gals

Here's one to make your head spin.

One of my favorite pictures, taken by Hubble , is of a small section of the Eagle nebula, a section dubbed "The Pillars of Creation"

At 7000 lightyears away (or 7000 x 6 billion miles) I find it staggering we can even see it, let alone in such detail!!

Another of my favorites is the Crab nebula.

What gets me is just how big this is! It's 11 light years across, or 66 trillion miles.

Size on a truly galactic scale!!!!

dont worry, Captain Janeway will sort it all out with a bit of paradoxical time travel

I have been watching bits on these 2 craft since I was a kid. The photo that stands out the most for me from it is the one looking back at earth which is a pale blue dot 1/10th of a pixel across.

That's it, that's what we all call home. The 2 craft are now 11 BILLION milles away and are only just exiting our solar system.
Voyager is still sending back information that is amazing the scientific community.
The magnetic field envelope of charged particles produced by the sun is known as the solar wind. These particles stream outward to the very limits of the outer solar system, where the solar wind changes direction as it contacts interstellar space. This is the heliosheath, and it’s where Voyager 1 is encountering some unusual readings.

Mind boggling stuff, makes many 'serious' things on Earth pale into insignificance.

Is there a link to up to date info on V Ger 1 and 2

Thanks Gareth, great stuff, I see both 1 and 2 are in the Heliosheath, hope they have protection, sorry, couldn't resist.

I'll be sticking that site in my favs
