virgin needs breaking in.......

Aha! I see what you mean now mate.

Well, as you will see, there are quite a few guys on here and living in your neck of the woods who will be more than willing to give you a game.
That's the beauty of this place....... one hell of a friendly forum and some top notch members! :)

Count me in on the mini meet, im all of 2mins away from TW and OM, so im easy.

As for the roll, i played there last weekend and had lots of run, it was the greens that were soft.

Wyboston isn't in the greatest condition at the moment, two winter 'greens' and winter tees and just recovering from a bit of flooding so that's best left until it improves.
However there are others and Aylesbury Vale isn't that far. Don't know the state of Beadlow Manor, haven't played there for ages, but two 18's so shouldn't be too difficult getting a tee.

I played Beadlow last week, did the Baron (Mrs' brother lives up that way) - it was pretty boggy, not a lot of roll, greens were pretty fair.

I normally play up Cambridge way, Lakeside Lodge, Pidley my local is warming up - played yesturday and fairways were rolling fine, frozen greens though.

Wyboston is a good track when it hasn't been raining - doesn't cope well with it!

my mate was looking at a membership for somewhere in/near MK, windmill hill I think it was.

Have to say herts/beds/bucks spoilt for choice really within a fairly modest drive

Windmill Hill is on my doorstep and wouldn't advise, very dull, not in the greatest of condition and can be overly slow there.

I ended up at Aylesbury Vale which is 15 mins south of MK, but in much better condition, more welcoming and less busy. Again its no world beater of a course but it does the job and is reasonably priced for what it is. Also has improving practise facilities, currently a range (can hit off grass) and putting green but the new short game area is half built and should be in place by the summer
