Andrew,
I have a slight tendency to cast a little from the top ie come over the top a little. I work hard at trying to get the club on the inside but struggle. I know I'm too quick in the transition from backswing to downswing but can you give me a good drill or tip to get the club in the correct position on the downswing. I have a weighted training club that helps but I can't play with that obviously!
Thanks

p.s. Andrew, the folks on here may be liable to tear you to shreds for blatant advertising when you could pay GM to be in the magazine (maybe you have, I don't know) but I thought this time I'd give you the benfit of the doubt, we don't have any pros on the forum to the best of my knowledge so I hope you genuinely can dish out some FREE help, lord knows most of us need it!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it Andrew. Your obviously not trying to sell anything and I assume that most of your activity on the forum will be in replying to the many technical questions we get, so your website will not be involved. Your initial post will soon disappear off the bottom of the page.

In reply to dave3498.
Thanks for the kind words.

As for your game, it sounds like you are trying to hard to achieve what has become an overrated thing - coming from the inside. The goal of any golf shot, should be to reach the intended target. it could go left to right or right to left or straight. Dont worry which one.

If you want to hange your swing you will need to spend time at the range working on technique - time that you wont have this week before the game on friday, so dont try.

If you want to play well on friday, you need to work on your preshot routine. You need to get focused on the shot you WANT to play. Dont focus on your faults as this will make them appear. Focus on your desires. this will help your brain play the correct golfswing program. Your golf swing is stored in your brain NOT in your muscles.

to help with your swing you should look at your golfing self image.

When you close your eyes and see yourself making a golfswing,
do you 1) see yourself making the mistakes that are there at the mo?
or 2) you see yourself making the correct swing.
----- You need to work towards number 2.

Self image is so important in helping people change things -quit smoking, quit drugs, quit drinking, morve confidence, no fear etc etc etc.

While practicing this week,
Imagine playing the course whilst you are at the driving range. Play each shot as if you were really on the course, and i mean as if ou were there - full routines etc. if you hit a bad shot, play your next as if it was the recovery shot you would have had to play in real.

The brain doesnt know the difference between something that is vividly imagined or somthing that is real. By practicing your golf as if you were on the course, your brain is getting comfortable with playing golf. Normal practice gets your brain used to being technical. This would be a disaster whilst on the course

Practice for real

Hope this helps.

Nick Faldo was saying something like this the other night, poorly paraphrased:
'If you go onto the tee thinking I don't want to go in the water, I don't want to go in the trees, you haven't given yourself anywhere else to go'.

Welcome Andrew. Great to have someone with your knowledge willing to get involved and impart that knowledge just for the sake of helping.

Hope you enjoy your stay! No doubt I may need to call upon you before too long!
