VHS to digital

Can anyone recommend a place that will convert a bunch of VHS compact tapes to a digital format for editing like MP4?

Have you tried Max spielmann? They have a website and are also located in some Tesco branches. I used them years ago for top quality enlargements and more recently to print calendars.

Just checked prices on their site, £24 a tape and I have a dozen 😳 Asda offer the same service at the same price so it looks like standard fare for this type of thing.

Actually it’s miniDV not vhs-c but I don’t think that makes a difference.

Cheers Stu , shopping around for a good price and service. A chap on EBay does it for a fiver a tape with good feedback - might be the way to go.

Do you have a device to play the miniDV? There's loads of things which convert to usb so you can rip it on your laptop.

No, camera is long gone and now I have just the 12 mini DV tapes.

Not being funny, but you might get something at the likes of Maplin so you could do it yourself.

At that sort of cost have you got a laptop or desktop computer. If yes have you considered getting a video capture to usb box and leads or video capture card and doing it yourself.

I don't have the camcorder any more.
