Phoned my insurance company, Lloyds, yesterday evening about my unfortunate accident involving my powakaddy, skycaddy and a stream. The very nice chap at Lloyds listened intently to my predicament without so much of a snigger, took down my particulars and said he would have a word with their supliers and get back intouch when the claim had been sorted.
Today at 11am i received a call from American Golf enquiring which Powakaddy and Skycaddy i had inadvertantly drowned. I gave told them the models i had and he said he would give some prices to Lloyds and get back to me. At 11.45am i received another call from AG saying that i could go to my nearest AG, which is Biggleswade, a pick up my new Powakaddy II and Skycaddy SG5.
Excellent service both fron Lloyds and AM i think you will agree.
BUT, i have spoken to Lloyds and asked if they would consider a quote from my club pro Lee Scarbrow at John O`Gaunt. I thought this only fair as i had purchased both articles from him originally. I got a quote and sent it off to Lloyds this afternoon.
I am waiting on the outcome.
What would you have done? Accepted AMs immediate offer or supported your club pro if you have one?

I think the insurance companies have specific agreements with certain suppliers.

When our car was stolen from the drive and my clubs were in the boot the insurance paid out immediately. Only thing was I had to go all the way to Bromley to a golf club to choose the clubs which was a good 15 miles from the club I was currently taking lessons.

I'd have used American Golf as thats where I buy alot of my gear from anyway. But was a nice idea to use the pro.

Insurance companies have arrangements with most large retail chains. This way they pay less than retail price for the goods, as they "buy" in large quantities. It is unlikely that your pro will be able to beat AG on price.

If it was clubs you were claiming for I would advise you speak to you loss adjuster and explain to him that you would prefer to not get your clubs from AG for reasons other than price (expertise, custoim fitting, etc.).

However, for things such as trolleys and GPS there is no reason why the insurance company would accept the higher cost.
