So my supplier wanted to up my payments by an extra £100 per month... I am in credit by £12 for the last 12 month so obviously my payment plan is spot on, when I rang them they said it was to cover winter usage, erm have you seen how mild its been, my heating is barely on and in a new build so heating is rarely on as it well insulated

they said they would keep it as it is over the phone so, today they tried to take £296 from my bank!!!! Thats £210 more than my current monthly payments, I didnt have the funds thank god although the bank will now charge me fore a bounced DD

oh and I am on a fixed price plan so can;t change for another six months

necky gits, will be making a call tomorrow to let them have it!!!!

G1bbo do you live in Buckingham Palace or another stately home??

Jaysus that's expensive.

British Gas tried it on with me. We were heftily in credit on both the gas and leccy, annual review, guess what??

"Hello Mr Phillips we'd like an extra £30 PCM from you (£360/year)"

Rang them the next day and gave them a dose, asking why my payments are increasing when I'm in credit.

Their excuse

"It's to cover the increase in costs"

My reply, bluntly was BG's profit margin is not my concern and said if my DD amount was not reset to it's previos level I would close my account during that phone call and demand ant credit on my account be paid back into my account the next day via BAC's.

Sure enough I got an apology and my DD amount reset.

What you want to do is explain what they have done and demand compensation for the refused DD charge and also for the embarrresment of having to call your bank manager to explain. See what happens.

Best of luck getting it sorted fella

We switched to EoN from British Gas. DD went from £101 for joint gas and leccy to £70 and we're still in credit. Waiting for the next bill (winter usage) and then will be on the phone demanding the DD is cut

EDF for us.

Got a bill just before Xmas, which showed us £536 in credit. Rang them and asked why they hadn't refunded us everything over £150, as per their T&C's. "Because its the winter period and you'll probably use more." Following a long and heated conversation they offered to refund £136, leaving us £250 in credit over and above the £150 'limit', and they wouldn't budge on a bigger refund. We've now signed up with someone else, which now means EDF will have to refund everything bar what we've used in the last month... and now they reduce their tariff

I was looking into switching from Scottish Power to EoN. Presumably you have not had any problems with them Martin. Scottish Power are always trying to put up my dd. They wanted over £200 a month for gas and electric. Have banned the girls from switching on the lights, they have to use candles, and the heating is off and its open wood fires.
