Mudballs weren't a massive issue; more a great excuse for a poor shot or bad decision in most cases. For example, one player hit a lot of pulls yesterday but naturally blamed the one that went in the water on a mudball.

On this subject, I've never understood why they have 'preferred lies' (one whole club length no less than can really improve a lie and options) on tour rather than 'lift, clean and replace' which is all they actually need for what they complain about (mudballs) - after all the fairways and fringes/aprons are generally in great condition so they certainly don't need relief from anything.

Think there were a few mud balls - Scheffler was having a moan but then he spent a lot of the time spraying it left and right

Yeah I did wonder why the players didn't seem to be asking for/talking about LCR (maybe they did) instead of preferred lies (LCP)

And even worse, the club length relief option means their scores are not acceptable for handicapping. Ridiculous :ROFLMAO:

It affected Scheffler and Schauffele, so of course it was a massive incident. If it was two different lesser-known players, it wouldn't be. Top players just love an excuse. You don't see the likes of us blaming poor conditions for bad swings and whatnot. 😆

A moan? I heard him give a detailed, well thought-out comment. He gave the reporter the courtesy of that at least…

I saw Scheffler playing a round with Grant Horvat and found him very likeable, very down to earth and a decent bloke

I want him to win

I'm sure the lesser players may well have complained, it is just the media don't care about their opinion, nor do most of us, so we'll never hear it.

I'd love us club golfers to be interviewed after a round of golf, we'd be worse than Arteta.

Exactly. Sometimes we swing it poorly, then next day it’s back. It’s all in the head, remembering a feeling or finding something to focus on.

For info, the Course rating off the Championship tees is 77.2, slope is 148 which means I’d need to shoot 85 to play to my handicap (6).
Doesn’t seem quite enough.
