We had our Rabbits dinner on Friday and it made me think.
Our club Pro is now Captain of the Pga for 2 Years and he does a grand jod in the shop and in the clubhouse.
Most of the players round about know him and say what o good jolly chap he is.
Is your club pro respected by everyone?
Lets have monthly review of each club pro in the mag, what do you think goo or bad idea.
Could have the forum members submit say 200 words, GM mod's?

not a bad idea at all, trouble is there would probably be too many submissions, and how would they decide which to publish. Unless of course they did a competition like the 'junior of the month section', but where you nominate your pro and they choose a winner each month.

we have three pro's. Paul is already a GM top 25 and coach to the England u-16/u-18. Martyn and Adam are both former tour pro's and are first rate teachers.

It looks like you are in good hads there -

We have a lady pro - got my first lesson with her on Friday, people seem to think a lot of her. Looking forward to it.

I can see the attraction but I can also see that everybody will just vote for their home pro or teacher. What about expanding it a bit and recognising other facets of the game like a long serving greenkeepr or steward.

I know our secretary Sheila does an awful lot behind the scenes in all sorts of ways from collecting annual fees to organising the club diary, sorting out competiton dates and reserving tees, booking societies and making sure they are catered for etc. She is always friendly and helpful if you pop into the office with a problem.

Every club must have someone who has given unstinting service in some form or another (committee member, cleaner, etc) and it could be a good way to recognise their efforts

Homer i like your idea! This would be a nice touch around the country and a great way for some clubs to get a decent, free plug!

I like the idea of some form of nomination. I seem to remember there was a feature recently on some lady who had won Steward of the Year or something similar. If there is something for that surely the GM team would want to recognise those who have dedicated themselves to helping others within golf or have made life at their home club more enjoyable

To be honest I think this is more for the magazine than the forum. Growing though we are, we're spread so thinly that the odds on more than a couple of us knowing any of the stars mentioned is remote.
