A hypothetical question. My pal is from India and says that, in their local rules, a water hazard that is not properly marked can/ should be treated as a lateral water hazard rather than just a water hazard.

Do we have a similar situation here?

It's a good question. I don't think I've ever come across water that wasn't staked, aside from casual water anyway. Be interested in the replies.

If it's impossible to drop behind a water hazard then by definition it is a lateral water hazard regardless of the lack of markings. Decision 26/3

The Rules and authorised Local Rules are the same the world over.

An unmarked water hazard is a water hazard or lateral water hazard if it fits the appropriate definition.
