Was flying long haul and did not want to sleep as was getting ready for the jet lag. Thumbed thru the movies being offered and there was not much choice. So decided to take a chance with 'The Fishermans friend'. What a cracker of a movie to watch. Reminded me of the old 'Full Monty' movie. I had not heard about this and i wonder why it did not get much publicity outside Cornwall perhaps.

After this watched Avengers - Endgame. What a waste of 200m on CGI esp when you dont have a storyline and get compared to a movie made with a lot of heart and shot in one town in Cornwall.

Anyone stumbled onto any good movies recently?

We are having a weekly film night at home. Each of us chooses, the others have to accept the decision. Some good, some not so good. The biggest unexpected surprise was Bad Moms, honestly, it was funny.

One of my choices which got groans but actually went down very well was 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. This hardly went under the radar, it won Oscar's, but may not obviously appeal.

Again, this was on of my inflight movies a few months ago.. i thought it was brilliant. I am not a great follower of Oscar winners, but this one was on my list. The other similar one was Green Book. Both of them prove that if you have a good script and team they can do wonders - you dont need a big cast or budget

Man On A Ledge, I remember thinking what a dumb name for a movie that was, but the plot was actually quite clever and a decent film in the end. They really needed to come up with a better name than that, it's as if they let a child name it after winning a competition or something.

Law Abiding Citizen - with Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx cast you probably expect a fairly typical predictable film, but it is superb with a few twists and turns.

Edit: Just remembered another one although so long since I've seen it - I remember the missus making me watch Cabin in the Woods, and thinking it would be a typical teen horror film which I hate, but it actually had a surprising level of black humour and twists that won me over.
