Carrying on from the change or stick thread I thought I'd put this up for some of you to ponder.
Some people think they have a fairly good swing..........then they see it on video and panic sets in.
What's important in golf are the 5 ball flight laws

1. Speed
2. Hitting the sweet spot
3. Angle of attack
4. Direction of swing path.
5. Where the clubface is pointing at impact.

Get them right and it doesn't really matter how you do it.
You may not have the prettiest swing in the world but if you are good into impact why change it?

If you can hit the sweetspot of the club with a good speed, direction, angle of attack and face pointing the right way, why worry about how you do it?

...and enjoy playing off scratch...

:)

I seem to recall a commentator on one of the PGA Tour events saying the only part of the swing that mattered were 3 inches either side of impact.

The OP in that post said that he was inconsistent, so he's obviously not getting them all right, at least not all of the time.

Noone gets them all right, all the time.

The question is, how hard is anyone willing to work to get them as right as possible, as often as possible.

And if you're a cat 1 golfer, I'd suggest that to get 1 stroke better is going to take a lot of effort, 2 strokes better will take probably four or five times that effort etc.

There aren't many golfers that are going to make great strides once the physical limitations of reaching 40+ start showing themselves.

If you can commit to four or five hours golf a day, 5 days a week , then anything is possible. Much less than that, and small changes are much more likely to stick.

Cheeky young upstart

Mind you, with the way my knee is at the moment I'm struggling to make any strides, let alone great strides :(
