I played on Saturday afternoon with my brother and 2 mates and really enjoyed the golf partly because I wait all week to play so when Saturday rolls around I can't wait to get out and play, didn't hurt that it was a glorious day too and I played well. So I had a free pass from the wife today and the weather was not too bad raining but still decent enough to play, so called my mate and played another 18 today. Got to about hole 14 and literally couldn't be bothered to continue but I did and as a result my game suffered. I think that I may have been tired from the previous day and that I probably over did it playing twice and carrying both times maybe why I didn't want to really carry on.

Do you play twice at the weekend and if you do, do you find you play better the first day or second?

Always try and get two games in where I can. The club had the mixed gruesomes (greensomes) this morning and as conditions were rubbish opted to hit a few balls at the range. I don't usually feel too tired playing both days. Sometimes it helps to have played on a Saturday and other times not especially if it hadn't been a good round. Tens then to always have a poor round hangover and start badly

I quite often play 2 days running and don't generally have a problem - but then I push a trolley, I don't carry!!
50/50 as to which day I play better - it has been known to play utter tripe both days!

Blame it on the weather!!

I've had enough of this rubbish weather and I can't wait for the sun. When it's blowing a gale or raining or cold I can feel the energy and enthusiasm fading fast.

Good article in GM mag about expectations and comparisons, when you play both days you tend to compare your first day to your second, how you play holes differently etc, saying that i try to play both days if possible, but work most saturdays,so play in the week then...

I'm 24 and own an electric trolly - definetly the way forward for multiple rounds over the weekend!

i've never had a membership so playing saturday and sundays is very costly so i don't do it often, but I'm joining a club next month and can play whenever i want so I'm looking forward to playing non-stop and preparing for my golfing week off!

I think maybe the weather didn't help as I normally play on Sundays then have football on Monday nights and don't feel it then. Good point about comparing the 2 days, I was finding today I was thinking I never did that yesterday so why have I done it today and so on... Either way I was just glad to get 2 rounds in on one weekend, and if I had the choice I would do it all over again...

I actually had a similar situation but decided not to play the second round today. The second round at the weekend seems different at times, there is such anticipation for the first round after a hard week at work and having not touched the clubs for a week that a round on a Sunday sometimes seems a bit of a damp squib. There are also other things that I enjoy at the weekend and playing 2 rounds uses up most of my time and my use of time at the weekend seems a bit unbalanced if all I do is play golf. After a long week at work I also enjoy a bitof a lie in at the weekend and 2 rounds of golf puts paid to that.

Yes I love my golf and there are times when I really enjoy 2 rounds at the weekend but there are other times when that second round seems a bit excessive and I can be out on the course thinking that there are other things that I would like to be doing more, especially if the weather is not great or my game is poor.

I don't often play 2 days running but will be this weekend and used to do 3 days in a row regularly when I did shift work. I have even done 7 days on the trot before and didn't get bored once. I just love playing golf, can't get enough of it.

I carry all winter, but only played once the last few weekends. Today rain was the reason it was p*ssing it down non stop. Have been doing a bit of running at the weekend as well as i'm training for a half marathon. last played twice 3 weeks ago and run 5 miles before the secound round on the sunday. Felt like having nap after 9 holes. so only once at the weekend for me till mid-march them back to twice after the race.

I also find i feel more tired depending on which courses i've played. If i played Tain twice i would be knackered, where as Nairn i'd just be tired :D

I have played two days on the trot and felt great afterwards, I did use a pull trolley and have just changed to a push trolley and definately felt the difference in my back. Performance wise I am so up and down I dont know if it effected my performance or not but I didnt half enjoy myself. I have a holiday booked in Wales in July and will be playing every day (heaven).

I play twice during the winter, during the summer its a little harder to get out as the Sunday society within the club has the tees booked out for Sunday mornings in the winter, hence our name the Polar Bears. :)

I try to play twice when I cannot play after work due to light.

Cannot always do it due to other commitments but when I only have two days a week I can golf I hate to miss one! I never suffer with any feelings of being "over golfed"

I am nearly 51...played football Wednesday (5 a side for 1 hour ) which usually takes me days to recover from....played golf Thursday Friday and today....did not feel 'right up for it' today beforehand....have not felt like that before yet....maybe it was a bit too much for me?....I dont no...although physically I felt reasonable today so I will just stick to putting it at that I played shyte....what a come down like after having a great game on Friday on a new course to me....was buzzing for 2 days after that

Have played Saturday comps, Sunday roll-up and Sunday afternoon with a few mates pretty much every weekend so far this year. No FPO in my life at the moment! ;)

I record every round I play on SS2 and just checked, the Sunday afternoon rounds are within 1 shot either way of the morning round.

I play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the summer, I try to fit in a few evening rounds as well. Never feel tired playing golf.

Last week I played in the twilight, 10 holes on Tuesday evening 22 points, level par.. Friday tournament 35 points and then played in Opening day on Saturday 36 points, with a lost ball on a stroke hole that I birdied with the second ball. Then 34 K bike ride yesterday
Aim to play at least 3 times a week and sometimes 4.

Ans folks ask am I happy with the move out here? Oh yes.

Last winter we skied in the morning and played 18 holes at Rangiora in the afternoon

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned fuelling (or fitness for golf for that matter).

One of the main reasons that people run out of energy whilst playing golf is because they, well, run out of energy. Ensuring that you are adequately fuelled up before and during a round will work wonders. Any source of carbs work, and most are quite convenient; banana, cake, bread, jelly sweets (or anything sugary). If you're really keen, check out Science In Sport for some of the best products on the market; I highly recommend their PSP22 carb drink.

I played today and practiced beforehand. I only spent two hours at the range yesterday and had played Saturday and felt fresh. Mind you having carried for four rounds in the Macmillan Longest Day last year it takes a fair bit to make me knackered.
