TV entertainment...what next?

I remember listening to school mates talking about what was on BBC2 the night before and pretending we had it too (we didn't) and I remember getting our first colour tv. :)
And what was on?
Benny Hill
Eric and Ern
Ronnie and Ronnie
The good life
Carry on films
Tommy Cooper
Potty time (Michael Bentine)
Dads army
Steptoe and son
Sykes
Rising damp
Star trek
etc etc etc

I watch so little TV these days - barely anything, in my opinion, worth watching.
Flicking channels the other day, despareately trying to find something and I saw one channel showing re-runs of 1-2-3 from - what - 30 years ago...?

WTF...?

How can anyone, even those who were on it, possibly be interested in a game show from the 80's that was crap when it came out..?

The sad thing is there are still all this real life channels (Discovery home and leisure etc) with huge amounts of air time to fill and very little, aka none, is dedicated to common pursuits like golf. I can remember Mike Reid (RIP) and Tim Brooke-Taylor both did documentary type programmes at different courses. Three holes, bit of spiel about the pro and the club, maybe a little lesson for the viewer. Inoffensive, easy to film (I know as TBT did one at Downshire I saw being shot) and surely a way of filling the gap. Same with fishing, shooting, etc, etc. Missed opportunity for programme makers and advertisers

It's the endless repeats that get me, deadliest catch for example - great programme but every series has been screened about five times now.
