Me, the old man and 2 of his mates are thinking of having abit of a golfing holiday around april time next year and wonderd if anyone could offer any advice or tips about where to go/not to go.

Were looking at going for a weekend to scotland but open to other suggestions. Somewhere with a hotel with a couple decent courses within 45mins or so drive of the hotel, where all pretty high handicappers so don't really want any courses that are going to be too testing or that are too expensive. The most important thing though is that there is some good quality boozers near the hotel. :)

The very best advice about golf trips is "what goes on tour stays on tour" :D As above, aim for some links golf at that time of year, sure you will get some good suggestions on here and if you are lucky with the weather it will be fantastic.

You just can't go wrong with St Andrews, great bars and great courses.
I know you wanted a hotel but take a look at a b&b called the Nethan.
I would recommend a round on the new course, and one of Scotscraig or Ladybank, or both if possible.

Hi,
How about Ireland, Plenty of links golf around Dublin a bit expensive or head to Donegal for great cheap links golf and bars just 2 sugggestions.Or Malaga.
Mike

Only tip I would give is stick around the East coast. In April the weather is not likely to be brilliant and if you go up the West coast you are likely to get dumped on by all the crap that comes over from the Emerald isles. With a bit of luck it will have petered out before it gets over to the East coast.

In April, head for Lisbon! Loads of nice golf, good nightlife and bargains can be found.

You can't go wrong with the golf around st andrews. One word that may put you off the pubs and bars there... Students.

That would be a kind of plus point in my eyes if there was plenty off attractive female ones with me still being youngishhhh *ahem*

Avoid uneven pavements, high kerbs and toys on the stairs :D

Theres always one! :p

Thanks for all the advice.

I was a little worried about the weather during april time so i did consider going abroad to somewhere like portugal.

So where would you reccommend abroad and is there any websites that do the full package e.g. flights, hotel and golf?
