I've done the TT twice and it was a great experience. Would I do it again? Probably not. Its just too expensive and the course selection is not what you would expect for that money. OK you are paying for a cash prize, chance to make it on telly etc but at the end of the day some of the courses you can play for a fraction of the £275 fee.
I dont agree that the TT is full of bandits having played in it, meeting fellow competitors and knowing others that have entered. Yes there have been individuals that have done very well in successive years - which may raise eyebrows admittedly, but you cannot tar everyone with the same brush based on that.
Most regional play offs are contested by very low handicappers and the scores for qualifying are generally not outlandish.
