Trick or treat during the pandemic?

Treasure hunt in the house and garden planned plus other things inside.

Last year it was great to get out with the community and go for an evening walk. Will be sad not to do that again as last year it really brought us together, for a load of new builds it felt much more established.

Will be all at home this year, while some might still go for a walk I understand most will not be knocking on doors. We certainly won’t be answering ours.

i wouldn't have a problem if the parents ever spoke to you or were friendly, other than just to bring there badly behaved brats begging at your door once a year:LOL:

i give them an apple each the last time any came... not had any since:ROFLMAO:

Usually dress the house a bit and have scarey music playing on speakers outside as soon as it goes dark. Not this year. I hope no one anywhere in the country lets their kids out to do this this year. I'll be very disappointed.

Did you have them dookin' in a tub for it, or trying to wrap their gnashers around a very sticky toffee apple suspended with others like washing on a line (just to lighten this up a little with a bit of remy-nis-kin).

I am hearing the government may actually announce that in Tier 1 places, it's OK to go door to door trick or treating!

My wife and I will not be taking part, the kids have already decorated the house, we will go on a Pumpkin trail walk with a supply of our own treats. I will put a note on my door explaining our stance, but in short, I don't agree that kids should be ringing doorbells, knocking on doors, sticking their hands in sweet bowls etc. Bloody stupid idea.

Another that would like to see it banned from a H&S perspective (ideally permanently). Turning up to a door, getting sweets and all putting their hands in the bowl to pull out the goodies doesn't seem safe and it may not be the kids that get ill but they could easily be spreading it to the parents etc. Just doesn't seem a risk worth taking
On what H&S grounds would you ban it permanently? Agreed this year it shouldn't go ahead, but once the world goes back to normal it will continue. Round here it's primary school aged kids, people put a pumpkin out to say they are happy for visitors, and off everyone goes, it's all nice and polite and lots of people getting involved.

Probably not. We have a lot of little ones around our way and the neighbours ask if they can knock and we always say yes. Other groups (usually older and unannounced) don't get a response

(in olden pre covid times!) Pumpkin or decorations out = Fair game for knocking. other houses we ignore.

I had a bucket with cold jelly and cooked spaghetti and put the sweets in that mix. Hid it in a bag and then the kids had to dip for it. The kids loved it.
