Visited West Malling and played the Hurricane course today.

firstly a big thank you to my hosts, captgray and mawgan, thanks for the invite and for your company, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

As for the golf, I thought it was a superb course with a very well thought out layout with a good mix of holes and well-placed hazzards, particularly the water.

We all had a decent game today, congrats to captgray on your PB and to mawgan, well done on a fine score.

I ended up with 35 points today which on a course new to me, I was happy with, the driver and putter were working well as were the irons.

Once again thanks again and I shall look forward to venturing onto the spitfire.

Jon lovely to meet you we had great game and the weather was better than expected.
Mawgan hit a lovely birdie and some great shots watch out when you get those new clubs.
If you guys are 28 and 27 handicappers im 38.
Seriously good company and a good round, shame about the topping and those blasted bunkers.

Glad you had a good time. West Malling has been on my hit list since I visited some of the research station there and at East Malling in the 80's and got invited to play (never took the offer up as I moved roles soon after). It looks great ont he website and has had some good reviews. I'm a bit worried about all this golf MWJ is getting before the Lydd meet next weekend.

Left 200 to the green off the 16th on a forward tee and ended up with a 7 lewis as pulled my 3W out of bounds.

Managed to get very close to an eagle on a par 5 today, the 14th was it?

Hit a sunday best drive to leave a 7I which I creamed to 12ft, the eagle putt finished 6" away but got the birdie.

Did feel weird being gutted with a birdie.

the 14th is a nice hole probably one of my favourite on the course. When you hit a good tee shot the green is just inviting you in.

I wouldnt mind having a knock around there again soon. i only played once since we last played!

Homer,
Be afraid - be very afraid! MWJ was winding up that large Titleist 'dog', and the putter wasn't too shabby either.

We had a great game - CaptGray was our 'Steady Eddie' and brought home a PB, and as always it was a pleasure to put faces to usernames!

Till we do it again...

I've heard his driver and putter are the best clubs in the bag so may have to resort to underhand tactics and arrange for them to temporarily go missing. Joking aside I'm just looking forward to meeting a few new faces and taking on what looks a pretty testing track.

It was a very steady eddie I enjoyed it and am seeing some improvement( I think) so if any one is up for a round here let me know.
Great to meet Jon and look forward to the spitfire course

Am I missing something here? Have I got this right, a 27 capper hitting a drive and a 7i to a par 5?

If we're playing in teams at the Ascot meet.....I wanna be in jon's team. ;)
