How good is it?
How bad is it?

Alas I'll never find out for myself

No, I'm not giving up Golf, it's just that, you see, I'm not a TM player.
And according to TM if I'm not a TM player then I'm not allowed to use the Lethal...

Funny, I don't see Titleist saying that you can't use a ProV1 unless you also have a 913, or Callaway saying the HEx Black needs a Razr-Fit Extreme, or Mizuno saying you have to play MP64's to be able to use the MPS....

So if I want to find out what the Lethal is like, not only do I need to buy a sleeve or 2 but also the R1 Driver, as the ball is "engineered" to make the most of launch conditions..........something, of course, that no other driver can provide..

What a load of Dingo's Kidneys.........:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

In my opinion it rivals the new ProV1.

Great ball. Thecraw likes it.

In fact I actually think the new Pro V1 X is a brick! Liked last years Pro V1 but this new one seems so much harder off the face.

Saw that ad and thought more TM marketing drivel their ball only performs to remount with their clubs!

My old man switched to them recently and said they were ok, he then bought a sleeve of the Mizuno MPs and seems to have stuck with them. I'm going to try out the dozen Bridgestone I got FOC courtesy of GM and so far they seem to be as good as anything I've used.

Played one of these (a Lethal) the other day.

Felt 'heavy' off my Driver - in the same way that the ProV1X does (or at least used to) compared to the ProV - but more-so.

Happened to use it for a hit with an R1...felt pretty good!

So I can, sort of, understand what they are saying - as that thought leapt into my head at the time. Still Marketing twaddle if they say it is 'only' for the R1 or need to use the R1 to get the most out of it!

Forgot to pick up the other ball I played on that hole though, so have lost my favourite - pretty battered - NXT Tour S. Unfortuntely, the word hasn't got out how good and good value this ball is, as I'm not finding many (only the 2nd), so I'll have to stick with the previous favourite - Pentas/TP5.

R1 sounds/feels a little plasticky to me. Felt more forgiving than my Driver (with which I was having a 'where's the middle' day). On a previous day, when I was having a 'can't hit anywhere but the middle' day, R1, with the standard Phenom 60 S was 10 yards or so shorter than my set-up.

Aha,I didn't see it as I usually skip by Taylormade ads due to them being full of BS and hype.I see they are still at it!:D

In all fairness I have managed to get my hands on a Lethal and they are v good, really nice feel off the putter and very spinny!

I have to agree with craw, I tried a Lethal recently and felt it was comparable to last years Prov V1, I haven't tried this years pro v1, that's next on the agenda along with 2013 z star.
Maybe it worked better as I have a R11s driver.....

I can relate to the relative comparisons you make, but would describe them rather differently! It only goes to show how subjective this is.

The NXT Tour S is the most 'different' of all the latest balls to me - it feels 'solid, heavy' and I like it a lot. The other stand out is the Penta (either) which feels 'soft'.

The Lethal has a lot in common with most of the latest premium balls, Mizuno, Srixon Z, Call, Nike and Pro V1x are all harder to the initial feel than their previous versions, but similar on a full hit. The Pro V1 is between these and the Pentas.

All this being purely feel related - they all have v slightly different playing attributes but they aren't radically different.

There is a small transmitter in the lethal ball and a receiver in the R1 face and when the R1 detects the lethal ball making contact it activates a secret device which gives the face some extra COR which makes the lethal will go 17 yards furthier.

Agreed, the NXT Tour S is my second favourite ball, after the Lethal.

I know I'm turning into a bit of a broken record with my current love of TM kit but the Lethal ball is fantastic. Doesn't seem to spin much off the driver face which is great for me, especially into wind. However, it stops really well on t'greens and feels great off everything - especially wedges.

Big thumbs up from me

I'll let you into a little secret Ian, it feels just like the Penta and Penta TP5 before it.

But don't tell anyone I let you into the secret because I've been using TM balls for years with Titleist drivers, they'll come looking for me

We are de-cluttering as the house is on the market and I'm under strict orders to sort my golf "crap" out from the wife. Just found a dozen TM TP black golf balls which in my opinion were the best ball (except the TP red) that TM have made. Happy man and going in my bag for comps straight away

I really rate the lethal and when they come down a bit in price will be stocking up. I play pro v1 at the mo (lake balls) as I ran out of the lethals TM gave us, only a dozen, tight gits ;)

Not bad though as I gave a couple away so thats only 10 balls lost in 4 months, a new record for me as a chopper :p
