Titleist 913D2 Driver Fitting Video

I just do not understand this

He claims to be a 11 HCP yet he slices the ball mainly, that is some achievment and i am surprised

I am also amazed that people go for custom fitting to discover a higher lofted driver such as 11.5 or 12 deg will minimise a slice by reducing the side spin, same reason why the slice isnt noticed with the higher lofted clubs and irons etc

I am a high handicapper but use the R11 on its' lowest loft (9.75?) and have an occasional fade but am generally traight enough to stay on the short stuff. I think the answer was in the fitters comment that the cure for a slice is more in the swing than in the club.

A very frank admission of his swing faults. But playing off 11, I'd have been minded to have a lesson to fix the fault and then get fitted. One of my playing partners is exactly the same, aim way left and hope and is forever being fitted for new drivers to straighten out the result.

He's on his third driver this year... £800(?) and he still has a 'fade'.

Ask the player concerned. He is an active member here.

As far as I am aware, his new club is behaving better than his old one, and having it does nor preclude having lessons and adjusting the club back to A1 (neutral) setting as and when he eliminates his slice entirely.

This was a GM forum freebie fitting with full write up in this months mag, the video is a QR reader addition to the article.
If I remember correctly Jamie didn't gain as much distance as the other 3 forumers but had much improved accuracy with his new shiney 913.

Me too. That's baldist, just because the fitter has a shiny dome doesn't mean he's crossfield. Us balders are people too you know

Nothing wrong with being follically challenged ;) Jamie was a top guy. He could be mustard around the greens and with a flat stick... Not sure the video reviews by the fitters were wholelly accurate. My fitter makes me out like I didn't hit one straight with my old Callaway. Don't get me wrong, the 913 was miles better and anybody who has looked at my review will know it was an amazing day, but I do not think I hit it as bad as he made out!

Surely the aim off the tee is to get the ball in play. If the new one (and hats off to GM again for organising) does that more regularly then surely that is better than the odd reload. The fact the guy is off 11 with a clear issue off the tee is testament to the rest of his game and surely now he can get it in play more often single figures beckon
