Evening all

Just a quick tip I picked up from my lesson today. Hitting shots on the Skytrak and generating just over 10000 RPM spin with my sand wedge. My coach then pours a little water on the club face. Next shot spin dropped by over half to 4800. So on those important shots round the green and approaches in keep that club face dry :)

To those that didn't know, a great tip...however, most golfers should know that moisture on the ball or club kills spin dramatically!

Thanks I did already know but alot dont, so its good advice for sure

Then it'll surely pay for those who get too much driver spin to leave their head covers off in the rain

And if the course is damp, drag your driver face along the grass before teeing off as this obviously reduces spin as Chris has eluded to.

Had no idea it was so detrimental to spin. Guilty of getting a bit lazy out on course and striking a wedge without giving it a wipe down. Not anymore!

According to this drivers and wedges don't perform the same when wet and in case you didn't know wedges without grooves don't create much spin!

Link just goes to Bridgestone trade event, but I'm happy to dispute the statement re wedges without groves don't create much spin.

That's a little like stating car tyres without tread don't grip - slicks grip better under controlled situations, and in completely dry circumstances with no intervening growth (ie tight fairways and you are on them!) the groves play no part in imparting spin.

Only 400 less spins without grooves or milling on face...
