Had a round at Tinsley Park GC in Sheffield this afternoon after a meeting, I found the course on UK Golfguide where it had good reviews despite being a muni.

Pitched up at 12:30pm to a decent sized and well stocked pro shop, neither of us had played the course before so I was a bit dissapointed they dont have course maps....it was to be the only dissapointment of the day!!

Off we went to the 1st tee after paying our £13 to be greeted by a bit of a queue to tee off but not too long waiting....tee'd off on the 1st which is blind, got over the hill at which point I saw the largest greens ever imaginable, played my approach into it and it pitched and stuck.

When I got closer to the greens I could not believe the quality of them!! Absolutely staggering that a muni has courses that are as top drawer as this, i've paid £50 upwards before on courses and putted on worse. Nice & firm but still a nicely flighted wedge would leave a pitch mark. Very very true readings and very fast also.

Played the rest of the round through some absolutely stunning holes, not the hardest of courses it has to be said but there are some stern tests. It just so happened I played really well and drove the 282yd par 5 green from the tee and narrowly missed an eagle putt and didnt fare too badly for the rest of the round either ;)

The fairways were lush & green, the tee boxes freshly cut and in mint condition, the yardage markers were well seen...honestly, what an absolutely fantastic track, Sheffield City Council should be very proud

We got off the 18th green and honestly felt we'd robbed the pro having only paid £13!!! Great course that I would strongly recommend to anybody and I would easily put this in the top ten of courses i've played.

Value for money - 10/10
Challenge - 8/10
Course setup and how its presented - 10/10

Have played this course alot, its a great course i have to agree and they do keep it in very good condition.

My original post should have ready 282yds par 4!!! lol

The par 5's are (off the yellows) 485yds (3rd) & 484yds (16th).

Played again yesterday, greens not in such good condition today as apparently they hold an amateur cup there shortly with £600 for the winner so they're getting ready for that.

All greens & tee's were covered in sand, still had a good day though and cant recommend this course highly enough!

being a member of tinsley park i'm pleased you really enjoyed playing there.the staff do a great job of keeping the course in the condition you experienced all year round . this year ,although not a brilliant summer, they kept the tee's on grass open well into late november. well done!
