My 1st set or irons (apart from some cheap set i got in package from AG) are going tomorrow after around 3 years of having them to be replaced tomorrow by a set of custom fit Mizuno MP 54's and it's looking like my 1st round with them will be in 30mph winds and a bit of rain.

I'm starting to worry a little now as the MP 54's are quite a bit of a step up from my MX 200's and if i have a bad round tomorrow i know the doubts will start to creep in but i've just got to try block it out and give them some time.

On the other hand i could be on here tomorrow blowing my own trumpet after the round of my life with my new irons.

We shall see!

I'm not sure what the MP 54's look like but to put your mind at rest I've just upgraded my irons from Burner 2.0 to Nike pro combos and I feel more confident with the Nikes now. They are also fairly forgiving which surprised me. Don't worry and you will be fine

Top tip...... leave the JPX's out where the MP54's can see them, should help to keep them on their toes ;)

Enjoy...hope the weather isn't too bad, not good in my part of the world

I had a look at the mp 54's tonight in American golf. they do have quite big faces on them. they should be plenty forgiving!

Enjoy

I must have hit around 100 or so balls with them on the range and they don't seem any less forgiving than my current irons to be honest but obviously it can all change when you get on a course when it means something.

I made a very similar change, MX950's very much a game improvement club with quite a large cavity and a 3 and 4 hybrid to MP59's, no where near as much cavity and very slim looking over the ball. They we custom fit with stuff shafts and I've never looked back. Once you can strike the ball comfortably they feel awesome.

Well I can't fault the irons, started off on the range and was hitting everything out of the toe and thought "here we go" but I hit them pretty well on the course.

Even in a cold wind with a cold ball they still felt so soft and made a completely different sound to my old irons.

Not quite as forgiving as my old irons but even when I wasn't quite hitting it out of the middle it wasn't punishing.

Scored 31 points with 2 blobs six 1 pointers and at least 5 putts that lipped out.

So all in all I'm pretty happy, just can't wait till the weather warms up to get a true feel for them .
