So I'll admit it, I a hopeless addict when it comes to buying and selling clubs and as such I've become uncomfortable every time I go out. So I'm making a change, I understand you can't buy a better game in the equipment stakes but maybe so in lessons, also I think fitness plays a huge part in this.
So all this in my head the last couple of seasons has lead me to not really enjoy going out much, it's been a grind, I considered quitting altogether but dearly love this game so the plan from now till next spring is the following.
Ditch the driver stick with the Mini driver
Ditch the fairway as it costs me to much
My bag will consist of Mini driver then hybrid around 18 degrees 4-pw and a couple of wedges and a putter 12 at most.
Lose a significant amount of weight and work on my fitness/strength.
Just go out and carry my clubs and enjoy regardless of the score
Take a block of lessons and practice hard.
Do not buy any clubs!
Expect a few clubs in the for sale section in 3 weeks when I'm back from Africa.

I'm continually surprised how many golfers chop and change their clubs. Finding consistency and something that works and is (usually!) repeatable is tough enough in this beautiful game without adding another variable.

Sounds like you have a great plan - good luck.

but you can get more comfortable with the equipment = greater confidence = better playing

Send me a message when your back and I can help you with a diet plan too :)

If you don't enjoy golf or become frustrated just play for Pars. My aim is to get 1 par for 9 holes if I get 1 I'm happy, if i get 2 or 3 i'm over the moon.

Thanks i've started the cambridge plan so plan to shed the weight by xmas, think I've done around 7lb already in 10 days.
I play mostly for bogeys but take pars, tbh the whole things been a grind hence the change.

Shewy, I'm sorry but I see right through you..... Sell the clubs your reckon you don't need and stick the money in the secret shinies stash.... Then when the swing comes back your ready and poised over the buy it now button on a drunken eBay late night session while the wife is watching celeb big brother...... So shallow.........

...... But don't worry buddy I'm right there with ya.:whoo:

My wife is a Cambridge consultant. I lost 2.5 stone on the 810 plan (or 810 "plus" as I call it) in a little over 3 months. Stick with it, it really works.

Been through the whole chop and change thing. New shinies do give confidence but if the technique is flawed then it won't make a huge difference. The OP talks about block booking lessons and to be honest that would be the way I'd go in his position once the bag is finally sorted

I'm pretty much in the same boat.. Dropped the driver and 3 wood for the Mini, have an 18 & 23 hybrid. Then 4-sw in the irons. This is when I'm pushing. When I'm carrying I take the clubs I use. Out go the 23 and the four iron and the mini is only hanging on in by a thread.
lessons have been binned, sick of spending money every 2-3 weeks and not seeing any lasting improvements.
Weight is ballooning, must do something about this!
only difference is, I' m not nor never been to Africa.

But I'm being seduced by the orange cobra amp cell driver. But that's another story
