Tigers golf swing

With the amount that he practices I reckon it'll take 6 more months and he'll be a better player than he used to be... I'd be tempted to pencil him in for a Masters win.

Maybe. :)

Not being the greatest fan (but an admirer) I always feared the day when he put the old swing to bed and worked on something even more consistent. Watch this space. :)

I think his swing looks horrible, but then what do I know.

I'm back by the way. ;)

Long time no see... thrown off Golf Magic? ;)

I like the new swing....
Especially how he swings the Irons.
From what i saw i think he held the follow through off on all his irons....

One concern i have is he seems a little too much on his left side through the swing. How many times did his right foot slip or come off the ground as he hit his shots?
I saw 2 tee shots get hit to the left as his right foot slipped a bit behind him, one fairway wood shot on the back nine go left when his right foot came off the ground.
His swing does look better and more controlled but i think he needed a bit more stability in his base in my opinion.

Ta. I've been out of the game for 18 months whilst I built up a photography business and had a son. GM is still there, but has lost it big style.

Stability how? (and what causes the foot to slip?)

Put it this way, if there is insufficient weight keeping a foot on the ground, it doesn't take much for it to slip considering the dynamic forces in the golf swing. When the foot slips before the golf ball has been struck then there is a loss of control, as happened in a few of his shots in the last tournament.

It will be interesting to see how his swing develops over the next few months as he did state in an interview that they are working on developing his whole technique, as was the case with each of his previous coaches. The targetward weight preference may be exaggerated at the moment to facilitate a number of changes. Exaggerating a change is sometimes used by golf coaches to help a pupil make a change.

It's something I have suffered from myself so I have my own thoughts on it from my own experience, one of them being that I could do with some new spikes as mine are completely non-existant :D

On the other hand I have noticed the times it occurs and what the possible causes are. For the foot to slip it must have some pressure applied to it otherwise it would simply turn and/or come up off the ground, so it must be a pushing motion of sorts. It will often slip if too much lateral motion is applied too early in the swing with some kind of push from the right foot OR when the weight moves slightly forward (onto the left toe) instead of rotationally, it's definitely a balance/timing issue in my opinion. I'd be interested to look at a swing of his where it happens (if there's a good quality one on Youtube) and compare it to swings where it doesn't.

I agree, it happened on a couple of his drives and a fairway wood shot in the last 9 holes. I would guess that he was giving it a bit too much on those swings so early into his changes. I think we'll get plenty of chances to look at his swing over the next few months and hear different views on it by lots of people. I would hazard a guess that his swing will look different again when it comes to the New Year.

Yeh, somethings not quite right when he tries to force it, some of the divots where heavier than usual so he must be a bit too steep at times (several causes for that). He almost jammed the club into the ground a couple of times on the 18th, and as for that smothered 5-wood he hit into that par5!!, that was a total loss of control on the way down - early days I guess but at least he's got the time/money/facilities/weather to put it right :(
